GWISA=SCREAMER

Hi there Genie

This is either a hoax or you have your wires crossed:D. I assume a hoax because you have started another thread to get maximum exposure from your "photos".
Needless to say this is not our installation or our equipment and if you pm me your contact deatils I would be happy to arrange for you to visit your tower and hopefully you will post photos of your real tower here again, (if you are a genuine client.)

I thought that was a little "scruffy" for a pro telecoms company. Why don't you take up the challenge genie? I (as well as many others now)would love to see what the state of the equipment really looks like.

It's still amazing how easily you gained access to these premises. Only in the new SA!:D

Hi there

I PM Howzit and would love to pay the tower a visit. If that is not your equipment ... I would love to see the "real" equipement.

Looking forward to the outcome. Will keep you guys posted.

Generally all is well with my Screamer WiMax connection ... although the backbone was really slow last night (50ms to Screamer in Centurian then another 300ms to speedtest in Jhb :/ but as I understand it those remaining hops are Telkom)

Just a thought: I noticed that the MTU is set to 1492 for WiMax. Anyone have positive experience in changing this?

I noticed it was set to 1492 on the gateway, 1454 on the router and 1454 on the nic. These are meant to be the same. Also according to the WiMax documentation I have read it should be closer to 1400.

MTU is determined by the providers network setup.
If they give you a number, use it.

Screamer Internet is a joke

We had a visitor today, and he needed to check his mail. After nearly an hour of trying to access his mail from a server in France, I had to disconnect the screamer dumbass connection so I could let the french man access his mail via GPRS. After an hour, he was done. On re-connecting I decide to ping his server in France:

27 of 40 packets received 32% packet loss Min:693ms Avg: 729ms Max:838ms

No wonder he could not get his mail.

At the same time I am trying to activate windows on another computer.
Windows cant find the server: wpa.one.microsoft.com

its a joke, only its not funny

I get fragmentation at the configured MTU values. I tested this by pinging an address with the "don't fragment" flag at the current MTU value and the error/warning "Packet needs to be fragmented" message is displayed.

When I was having problems I found that 1460 wasn't fragmented and it seemed to improved performance ....

They at least chose an appropriate name, it clearly describes their customers reactions.

Anybody else having problems in PTA today? No internet all day!

I got an sms from Screamer stating there's a problem. I just want to confirm this.:D

So you chose your login and your first post to make a nondescript post on this thread. Your intentions are a little too obvious;)

Why don't you PM me your "late" login so that I can verify that you are really a exscreamer before I start taking your posts seriously.

Hi there Murray 654

Please PM me your account details so I can check why you are having a problem.

Regards

Not sure what was happening in Jhb last night but was dc'ing every couple of minutes for a few seconds (after midnight).

I ran some traceroutes and will pm them to you Howzit or email your WiMax team.
