The 10% discount for over 60's is a scam at Makro. Not the same as Game at all.

Went with my dad to buy a Hisense 32inch TV. The price at the time was R1,899. It wasn't on sale or anything like that.

Took it to the counter, and the discount want through at R25. Management told us it was "up to 10%", but usually the discount isn't so small. They apologized stating it must be due to the margin being too small, but refused to budge and instead tried to sell us the Sinotec which was going for R100 cheaper.

We bought the TV, but ended up returning it the next day. Went to Game, got them to price match Makro and they gave us the pensioners discount of 10% on top of that. (Something they don't seem to do anymore.)

Anyways, long story short, rather buy from Game if they carry the same item, an if it's cheaper at Makro, they'll always price match.

We spoke about payflex while back, stumbled upon a similar service called 'payjustnow', they work slightly different:

3 equal #interestfree instalments - now you can plan for those bigger purchases over 3 equal instalments:

  • Now : time of purchase
  • Now now : at the beginning of the following month
  • Just now : at the beginnning of the month following that

After having a quick look at the stores using their system I prefer the range of shops on payflex and the one or two electronic stores I looked at seemed quite expensive but maybe someone find something useful.

Bought the LG 27UL500 from Makro with my dad. Paid R4720 (from R4999) about. so not 10% but it is something I guess.
Really happy with the screen.

The rule is 10% off the difference, not 10% off the total
