yup the 3.5" are better value but that's the cheapest (R799) I've seen for a 1TB 2.5"

nope not much, if use them as external they capped at 30mbs anyway on usb 2.

wont recommend them as windows boot drives, for storage they are fine.

It will be an internal drive though. I still have a Samsung spinpoint F1 which I may consider using as my boot drive as my OS is currently installed on my old seagate 250 gb

should not be to slow, my laptop have 7200rpm 320gb for OS( oldish 2 years old), should be slower then that 5400rpm desktop drives, and it is still pretty fast.
