^, interesting "fact"...Zotac were the first to launch factory-overclocked cards.

Fact in quotes because I think I read that on their website.

There's 2 deals I'm amazed nobody has posted yet:

https://www.makro.co.za/computing-and-mobile/lenovo-11-6-ideapad-atom-notebook-bundle-308014EA

Before the recent exchange rate drop, that office bundle alone was almost R1000, so a fast small notebook for R2000 aint bad

and

https://www.makro.co.za/computing-and-mobile/lenovo-10-1-miix-2-in-1-windows-tablet-wi-fi-32gb--309622EA

Don't let the specs put you off, these models run nearly 16 hours before dying (prob 10 if your watching hd movies nonstop)

A real R2000 or R1600 (for Miix) without office would trigger my mind. Office 365 will work for one year, then you have to pay.

At those prices then enjoy your no-name china brand item that has a lot worse manufacturing quality/support/cant be updated or it breaks the custom rom it uses/Bluetooth keyboard/cr@ptastic battery etc. And then your ~R4000 Office bill.

Can go 5-8 years on a 365 personal sub for the same price depending if you renew with specials or not. :D

I bought the top one for GF. Took it home, connected it to wifi and let windows update run. After it was complete there was less than 2gb harddrive space left, before I installed a single thing :wtf: Luckily Makro took it back without any fuss.

Also the CPU is rather weak. 720p YouTube would stutter a bit.

Weird I have asus t100 with 32gb storage ,has about 7gb free and its fully updated windows 10 and has other apps installed.

It has less when it was running windows 8 ,then I upgraded it to 10.

I ditched M$ Office long ago, so I don't need pay extra money on new devices. Libre Office.

Besides, I don't think it is a good deal. Lenovo has recently anounced agreement with Microsoft and we will see more deals which include M$ Office 365 at the same price.

You forgot to clear the previous installation files, even ifs its a fresh windows 10, it tends to make massive amounts of backups during updates, but then doesn't go and delete it. My machine(s) running on anniversary update and the update prior to it, only use up 20gb total

Wonder how these will handle upgrading to win10 AU. Chances are it wont back up the previous install due to size limitations.

Apps can always be installed on the SD card.. but really, if some one is going for this you cant expect it to run photoshop etc which uses quite a bit of storage/needs a beefier cpu/more ram.

EDIT: Meh, quoted the wrong person, but applies to any low storage device really

Running which browser ? If chrome there's your issue, it's a nasty piece of resource hogging software nowadays. Not like the glory days when it first came out.

I have a smaller tablet with the same cpu in it and better screen res, can handle 720/1080 and even the 265 codec playback no problems

There is no doubt the 970 is a great card but I just can't help not even being tempted at this price, I'd still spend an extra R1k and just get a 1060 which is a much better card and will last longer - something like this one: http://www.wootware.co.za/zotac-zt-...-192-bit-pci-e-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html

Maybe if this card was R3k I'd be tempted - I was very tempted by the Rebeltech 970 + SSD deal.

Was just as tempted by the Rebeltech deal, and i hear you, even this 1060 Mini http://www.wootware.co.za/zotac-zt-...-192-bit-pci-e-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html should be better than the 970. I doubt for i'm doing i'll ever need more than a 970 or the 1060 mini. But even R3500 is still a lot of money for me and i really don't game that much, But when i do play something i don't want to struggle, but more than happy with medium graphics.
I have the 750TI, surprisingly enough it ran No Mans Sky with no problems on medium. Ark was a different story though.

Will wait for the carbies, the 970 should start going for +- 2.5 ~ 3K.

Soon! Cannot believe how quickly these prices dropped. Oddly enough though the equivalent AMD competitor, the R9 390 is not really any cheaper which is a shame.

It won't drop as quickly ,suppliers are not running specials on them yet.

Its still ok card for mining ,through RX480 is the king of mining atm.
