Except they are the same thing. Just because the dictionary of Swa has decided they are not the same thing does not make it so.
They are not strictly dictionary words. Go look up their original usage forms. People diluting the terms and using them incorrectly doesn't change those meanings. But I won't argue with you on this. You are clearly one of those that want to continue to dilute language so we eventually come up with new terms again for the old ones to correct the problem.

That is the nature of language. It changes. Not in this case though.

I dunno where you came up with the thought that "grey" actually means no customs and duties. That is your own invention right there

Should you buy grey market tech? What is the grey market?

First, let's clear up an important issue: the grey market is not illegal. It is sometimes referred to as a parallel market, which is in fact a clearer representation of what it is. The grey market is a channel through which goods are imported by distributors not authorised by the manufacturer. It allows UK consumers to purchase products that are not intended to be sold in the UK market, and at the lower prices typically paid overseas.

The grey market differs from the black- or underground market in that these goods are not illegal to buy in the UK. They are merely not intended to be sold here. However, while you are not breaking the law by buying grey market goods, there are some points you may like to consider, as we'll outline below.

There are two basic paths you can take if you’re eyeing a grey import – one is to take care of the whole process yourself, which entails sourcing the vehicle you want from the country where it’s located, organising shipping and fulfilling the customs procedures and paying import duties once it lands here.

Parallel to me is the product that is locally available through official channels but is imported directly for whatever reason and may or may not be supported.

Grey is imported with no alternative being available locally.

After all the word "parallel" specifically relates itself to something else that is the exact same/similar.

Anyone know where I'll get the best price on a hard drive? Looking for a 512 GB 2.5 inch SATA drive for a laptop. Note not looking for a SSD, this is a old laptop which I'll pass down to my mother and the amount of times she'll be using it and mostly only for storing photos doesn't grant putting a SSD in there.

Look for a used one?
