Ok so im not bothering to search weather this has already been a topic or not...

So if it has please feel free to shut me up!

I installed Linux in windows, Ubuntu.
So i started it up and was really amazed at the speed it starts up.

Anyways i had my iphone connected to my laptop via the usb cable and i noticed that linux recognized it without needing drivers or internet connection. I clicked on the device and opened it up, it lists all my folders, all my pictures, all my PDF's all my music (in weird formats) all my vids and so on, now i was amazed at it, i had to try copy something to it. I coppied a picture to the one picture folder shut down my laptop and took my phone out, checked in the folder and there it was... Amazing no itunes!

Well ja i guess im not the only one who has picked up on this, has anyone else tried it?

Have anybody tried this with an IPAD 2?
Could be very handy to work without itunes!

The pictures folder was always viewable in any OS as like a DCIM folder.

As for the music, PDF's etc, that's news to me, wanna try it out!

Well if you'd like to consider this..... Apple products run variants of their OSx, right?
Now this is all based on Unix.
Linux, is based on Unix.
For this reason you don't need drivers to understand/read an iProduct when connected to a Linux machine :p

And yeah, I must say, tuning my Ipod from Linux's Rhythmbox is so much easier than using iTunes.

Can be done with windows too.

Jailbreak and install samba through cydia.

Are you sure it's real? Cos your name is...

:D

You know what, you might be right there! I'm going to have to take a second look and write down my findings so I don't get confused later on!

Thanks man, maybe I am not being followed by pigeons and chased by radio controlled mice after all...

Thats true, using incandescent light bulbs work just as well as energy efficient ones. Thing here is, you don't need to spend time jail breaking and installing Samba when out of the box is just so much more quicker and efficient.

I did it a long time back, you can also copy pdf to your ipad/iphone, ipod, but you'll have to edit a certain file with text editor so that those pdf's can appear on iBooks. So OP, your not the only one :D
