Have you stopped using Afrihost this month, or thinking about it?

Again... I'm looking for an alernative ISP that can offer me 20GBs of anytime data for R50. Anyone?

Yup, also just downgraded AH to a smaller backup account. Upgraded WebAfrica to main account. Repeat ad nauseam.

On the positive side, at least we're able to actually change fairly easily and not locked into any contracts.

I scaled my Afrihost account way down to just a backup account about three months ago.
Currently using WA as my main account, but they are also having problems.
All the ISPs seem to be struggling at the moment.

I did about the same with the same timing. Afrihost never sorted out their problems from months ago. They made some stop gap improvements on their network but the core ipc related issue still remains.

Webafrica has had issues for over 2 months now. it has reached breaking point to where 144p youtube will not load for me at certain times of the day.

Mweb seems fine.
Vox seems fine.
My telkom 2meg uncapped is 1/2 price of my business 2meg uncapped at webafrica and it outperforms the WA account by leaps and bounds. I can not remember last when my telkom account's ping went above 30ms locally.

Afrihost has packetloss and they think this is fine. A problem with their fundemental reasoning that makes them a poor isp till they fix it. I have even after cancelling tried to help them troubleshoot it but they seem uninsterested.

I would like to get the consumer protector involved with the cpa. They are clearly overselling their products and expecting us to suck it up so that they don't have to spend their own money on the upgrades but rather ours. It is getting out of hand and hefty fines should be given to web africa and afrihost for this blatant abuse of consumers.

I sense folks are getting restless. There'll be another wave of refugees sweeping across the ISP landscape.

Yes, I have an AH capped account. And I'll keep it (although might cancel if the double-data promotion ends).

But I also use WA, Ignite, and Vox. When one account goes haywire, I log into another ISP.

I have been AH clean for a month now. It feels good to have my internet back!

I could not take the constant issues and terrible performance in the South which has been going on for months.

Cancelled both Afrihost and Axxess accounts.

It is staggering how quickly MTN managed to turn them into a pile of rubble where they once were the innovators and pacesetters.

I cancelled my AH account last week and switched to WA. I have not had a SINGLE problem with WA so far. EVERYTHING works, youtube, torrents, etc etc etc etc.

I get full down/up speed on my line with fantastic pings...no matter what time of day it is.

It's such a relief not having to struggle endlessly every evening and then hear the following day how sorry the AH reps are and they're working on it...pfft...enough of that!!

I have both WA and AH... both right now have the exact same issues for me. infact afrihost has slightly better local pings for me and youtube is loading much faster on it. Wa is business uncapped and AH is 4+4gb capped

yep dropped my afrihost account to a backup prepaid account. I have just moved my main account to Crystal web, so we will see how that pans out, but I do have other backup accounts with plugg, Web Africa, Axxess and openweb.

It is really really sad though because I love the console for Afrihost as it is so easy to use and top up etc but yesterday I capped out on my crystal web account and moved over to my afrihost account and the latency on the account was terrible so I couldn't play games and so gave up on that account.

Afrihost made a huge mistake moving over to MTN.

I moved to CW a month ago, not looking back.

From a 20MB business to a business capped account I am saving just under a grand a month to boot as well.

My ADSL line was with Afrihost. Cancelled my ADSL as Afrihost refuses to refund me for the 10 weeks downtime "they do not refund for issues logged as intermittent service" . I also downgraded to the 1GB package. Recently got the 100Mbps telkom fibre... Shall be buying my data from another provider

Word of warning, do not move you DSL line to Afrihost.
If your line is faulty they will not refund you for the downtime.

Sad to see a thread like this coming up and I really do understand the frustration and sentiment expressed here.

For those who may not be following our threads or websites, we are definitely aware of the issues raised here and we are working towards addressing them. Our CTO has been engaged in a comprehensive review of our entire network and we've planning to make improvements and upgrades where we can to improve our client's experience as quickly as possible, and also lay a solid plan for running our network optimally for the future. I can't divulge the details or give an ETA, but this is an in-depth project and we expect to see some great results.

I'm always available by PM for anyone who wants to chat about their experience or problems they're having, and I'll do my best to improve your experience where I can, or resolve the stuff that should not be an issue like service or providing information :(

This is why I'm retaining my account on the 1 Gb free - so I can return to AH when things improve.
