So I was just wondering, and wanted to get a rough idea (cause we'll never see those numbers) of how many people have cancelled their account or are thinking about leaving...

In the normal ebb and flow of ISP throughput, Afrihost is currently on a low. Jumped to WebAfrica (having previously jumped from WebAfrica to Afrihost for the same reason)

Yea, I've found that I can maybe be on an ISP for 3-4 months before it starts having these magical "issues". Then jump ship, fine for a few months, and then the same thing happens.

Only reason I made the poll is to perhaps get an idea of how many people actually do cancel, and what impact it would actually have. I imagine the impact to be as immaterial as a drop in the pond.
 
ive jumped ship twice this year Telkom to Mweb and now was about to jump to afrihost but I see they are having big latency problems ATM so im on the hunt again. With all its faults and service at least with Telkom you know what you getting and expect it. These other ISPs should be top knock compared. Otherwise what the point of moving.
 
I scaled my Afrihost account way down to just a backup account about three months ago.
Currently using WA as my main account, but they are also having problems.
All the ISPs seem to be struggling at the moment.
 
I am considering kicking AH, but where do I go to then?
I have been with most of these ISPs and they all suck.
 
i downgraded my afrihost 50 + 50 Gb to the free 1 Gb in my clientzone this morning. Then signed up for Vox 50Gb capped. I can upgrade again at afrihost when they sort out their network.

Also changed to the 1GB free account and signed up with Web Africa.

If your ISP is having issues, fiber is not going to help you one bit.
I am waiting for all the threads later where people will be bitching and moaning they cannot get the throughput on their fiber connections and high packet latencies, et-cetera.
 
Personally I don't think most of these problems have anything to do with the ISP themselves.
I've been with AH 50+50 now for 18 months and they are rock solid.
I get max speed 24/7 (424 KB/sec on a 4 mbit line), whether its direct or torrents.
Latency has always been a bit poor but maybe because I live in the sticks.

Chatted a bit with a friend in IT yesterday.
He agrees with your statement. He has access to a corporate VPN to the UK office, and he says the latency via the VPN is far less than via the internet to the same host.

He suspects that the cANCer has installed a nice big piece of firewall equipment and they are currently configuring it, so that when the laws get passed they can just turn it on and voila, we have a Great Censorwall just like China does.
 
Left AfriHost at the beginning of this month and the experience is like night and day. I can't see myself ever going back. They've gone downhill at a staggering pace.
 
Moved away from Afrihost this month too... Their Business Uncapped just seemed to be getting more sluggish by the day.
 
Does anyone know where else I can get 20GBs of anytime data for R50? If so, I'll bite. :)

I have downgraded from 50 + 50 GB to the free 1 GB. Am moved to WA but can't tell yet if the AH problems will follow me there
 
I am definitely considering moving from Afrijoke ..

The problem that I have is that I need a line similar to what I have and just cannot afford it from another ISP ...

Also, the fact I average 650GB a month with the extremes going over 1TB ... I just cannot afford an uncapped+unshaped line from anyone else ...


But I am still browsing other packages ... Afrijoke must go
