Have you stopped using Afrihost this month, or thinking about it?

Also cancelled mine. Again.

I tried their uncapped beginning of last year, which was terrible. I didn't even download jack****, was just for netflix, was purely unable to use the service. Reverted to capped. Same thing.

Thought I would supplement my Webafrica capped account with some cheap Afrihost capped data. Was a bit pointless in the end, as the service would degrade during peak time. Switch back to WA and all is fine.

I cannot wait for 1 July... New ISP! Gonna play me some lagfree games, put on some highspeed downloads and just have a better time all around. I don't need no PR bs to see when something is boned.

Afrihost 50Gb + 50Gb = R199 pm

Vox 50 Gb = R170 pm

I actually need about 100 pm, and the budget is tight... :(

Afrihost was excellent for me for over two years. It's just recently tanked. I'm hoping it will return to what it used to be. Naive of me maybe, whatever.

try telkom uncapped.

I signed up with them at the start of this month. I was on the phone with for around 15minutes (slow system i was told lol) but after i plugged in the details it immediately worked. So pretty painless.

As far as the experience the difference between afris.hit and ti uncapped is like night and day. Much faster than the claimed 'unshaped' capped afrihost connection I cancelled. Twitch, youtube streams perfectly, gaming pings are rocksolid <40ms locally and +-200ms internationally. been impressed so far. [cpt and 4mbps]

Switched to webafrica uncapped this month, night and day, afrihost net is truly screwed.

Oppas vir die sterretjies ;P

Their capped offering is ok, but the uncapped didn't suite my needs.

Gone. For now on Vox which has made a tremendous difference compared to Vox. Perhaps I stay, but my shortlist includes Vox, Web Africa and Cybersmart (not sure about this one as the website alone looks like it was done by a web-designer on acid and the FUP seems to be very restrictive).

LOL, wait until you get throttled

Cancelled mine as well last month. Signed up with Mweb Premium uncapped this month. So far its so much better.
Was able to download more on my torrents on Mweb in a week than I was able to download on Afrihost in 2 months.
Not going to make a habit of downloading huge amounts of torrents, but finally managed to clear my backlog.

Also since switching over all my packet loss is gone, so gaming and teamspeak finally work properly again.

I was also trying my best to remain with AH, but being totally unable to watch a simple Youtube video or Netflix movie without buffering every 15 seconds and then watching highly pixelated pictures has driven me away. Man, even simple web browsing was becoming painful.

I have to say tho, I signed on for a WebAfrica test account and have to agree with another poster here - NIGHT and DAY!!!

Now it feels like I have painless internet again.

And btw, Afrihost, why must I be inconvenienced when you are always testing and having a problem to fix? Always??

Thank you WebAfrica..I hope all continues well with you and I will be signing up permanently.

Already cancelled, and feeling homicidal these last few days already because I'm trying to get my 100GB capped account value for money. (Obviously, that's just impossible)
I don't know about Vox, haven't tried it, but stay the hell away from Telkom and also now Afrihost... it's just crap, and with all the vague bullsh*t from them (especially their CEO Gian, that tosser) I doubt I'll ever sign up with them again.

So ANYTHING else looks better than Afrihost the moment, but Vox has a 100GB capped offering at R169 at the moment, oppoosed to Afrik*k's equivalent at R199.

Drop Afrihost, as they deserve an exodus due to all these empty promises and letting their clients bear the brunt while having a grand old time running their little Proof of Concept experiment using the same clients' funding.

Cancelled my AH today..last day 31/July.

Already up and running on Vox. Full HD streaming on all services. Never experienced this with AH.

Also, as a parting shot, I logged a ticket to their support desk asking very very very clearly (even with example) for a monthly summary of my usage.

Guess what I received?? A 76-page detailed breakdown since Dec-2014 per session.

Hahahahahha!!! Ya Afrihost!!!

Viva real internet again!!!

I'm done with AH, just cancelled. now need to decide where next.

Cancelled a few months back. Was a good ride until MTN came along. Gave them a chance after that to get things right and it never happened - so I went to Web Africa. Great internet. Great streaming. Great gaming.

Cancelled this month so end of the month Afrifree. I signed up with WA and Vox(just couldn't go past that offer). Even though I had to pay them too, is an experience like night and day.

No buffering on streams and download files during the day (unthinkable with AH).

So thanks Afrihost for making my decision easy and showing me how good internet works.

Yep, moved from imho, the worst ISP ever. They now hog my adsl line though, and would not release it so a proper ISP can manage it. Spiteful, sore losers. Hope they die a painful death. Btw, careful out there, they even tried to put a false debit through on my bank account after cancellation

I am free of these people on Friday. I cannot wait.
Received confirmation of my cancellation and all is in order

Terminated my account with Afrihost yesterday, cant handle it anymore. Opened up an account with OpenWeb, speeds are sweet, I can game online again and stream youtube videos in HD with no buffering.
Its not good enough for an ISP to been offering such poor service for over a month and just say " there is no ETA on repairs" FFS

yup!

I left them roughly a month ago for WA. Like a flick of a switch, all my stuff (low latencies, streaming, download speed etc) just WORKED...after I've been told a couple of times that "it's my line"..."it's my exchange"...blah blah toothpaste...(I'm now with VOX who's even better IMO than WA)

ITS AFRIHOST, THEY SUCK END OF STORY!!!

Meanwhile...the reps keep telling the guys to post endless test results...tracert/speedtest/"stats for nerds" etc etc...what bothers me is the fact that while they are still "building and configuring" this POC network...they expect their clients to pay full price?! PLUS...the clients must use the data they paid for, to do these tests for AH? The mind boggles...

And then...if you say something...then the reps "don't think it's fair..." blah blah again...

Getting your network in order is the "companies' responsibility"...NOT the customer's!

...sigh, I just wish more people can see the light and leave AH...the way they going on now, they don't deserve any customers...
