Help exeeded Office cap without permission.

i'd be more paranoid of the co-workers. ppl who are dishonest together tend to be eager to rat their friends out in attempt to cover their own hides when the paw paw hits the fan

hmmm, yeah...

So being honest before they blab would be better...

Go see the boss as soon as you are both at work!

Prevention is better than cure. Don't let this get bigger than it already is!

Is there any point in this thread anymore? Most of the ppl who posted here tried to convince the OP to own up to his mistake. He says that he want to confess, but if you read the thread he seems bent on not doing so in order to protect his and his colleagues bandwidth theft (let's call it by its name, no matter how justified it might be).

Anyway - if he's so willing to lie to his boss in order to protect his hide, why should we even imagine that he's speaking the truth here?

Do not get personnel. Cost is not the issue, just do not want to rock the boat for the others at work, that being my primary goal. As the boss will then lockdown all torrents, just like Facebook, which i never really go on, maybe twice a month from home.

Question is, why the hell are you using business bandwidth for personal work?

I already called this poster out on page 2 for not being willing to do the honest thing.

THREAD FAIL!

Infecting the office PC was never my thought, just thought that a wireless hack excuse will work, seeing as they cannot trace the smoothwall. I am actual very dedicated to my work and helping others, as my customers/friends can attest. Do not know where the smoothwall is running from, but know that my laptop was wirelessly connected. Junior techie said that wireless connections are not measured through smoothwall, he is also in on month end downloads. The junior techie is the only techie.

Said junior techie needs a klap to wake up - and to put the wireless AP after smoothwall so that smoothwall will also be controlling the wireless AP. Before the Smoothwall you'll get your adsl router, and nothing else.

Said Smoothwall need to have a Red-Green-Purple configuration for this, so that the wireless AP is on a separate subnet. In case it get hacked, the hackers cannot gain entry to the main network.

Seriously, if you care at all about your company you at least need to tell your boss how insecure the wireless is. I'm sure he doesn't really want the possibility of random people getting into your work files. Wireless security is an important part of a network.

Find as many applications as you can which are full of viruses/spyware... (preferably download them with a linux/mac else you'll just get your pc infected, or at an internet caffe!)

Put the apps on a memory stick/cd/dvd and copy em all onto a work pc and run them, once the pc is infected so much it starts to crap blood, just point at it and theres your scapegoat! Just say it was a massive virus infection that downloaded/uploaded data.

Yeah I'd fire my IT Guy on the spot. What the F*uK do we pay them for. To get more infections than a Zombie?
There is no rectifying incompetence
but it takes balls to admit to a boss that you stuffed up, and you know what **** what everyone else thinks.
So come clean and make amends if the boss wants them-too bad if he doesn't. Me? I'd just say GTFO

Tell them the pr0n you were downloading was caused by a botnet that came from an infected spamemail you received from Nigeria telling you, you won the UK lotto, that you clicked a link in..worked for me.., try it..watch your boss scramble to delete his "hidden files" roflmao

I feel the guilt now cause its the first of 3rd of the month, therefore i am dipping into the Company cookie jar. Where as the end of the month i just finish off what the ISP takes /steals back.
Even at the end of the month it's not yours to do with as you please.

To be blunt, if I was your boss I'd be wondering what else you were stealing from the company.

be a man and confess to your crimes. If your job is that important to you then I suggest you start respecting your boss and his property.

OR you can choose to be dishonest, but this will catch up with you soon than you think and a criminal record, or even just a sign of office theft will stay with you for a long time and cost you more in the long run.

If you were my employee and confessed prior to me finding out, I would be more lenient in my sanction than if I had to initiate an investigation that will cost me time and money.

Honesty IS the best policy.
