Yeah, it's not really that: we eat red meat at most once a week, otherwise it's pretty much a veg diet. I have 1-2 whisky after dinner, no binge drinking. I'm more active since I stopped working (sitting at a desk).

I just spoke to my brother, who is a lot more health-conscious/active than I am, and his uric acid levels are also sky high, so just bad genes it seems.

yes, once I'm pain-free for 2 weeks, the plan is daily purichose
Which side effects do you have with Puricos?

Sorry, forgot to post an update last weekend:

I stopped the Colchicine at around lunchtime on Friday. By Saturday morning all the pain was gone, just some stiffness in my foot.

I'm still taking Colchicine twice a day until they run out in a couple of days, and then will go get the chronic meds next week.
Colchicine is not meant to be taken like that. Read the package insert about maximum dosing. It's normally only used for acute attacks(every 2 hours until the symptoms of pain subside). Otherwise you're going to be living on the toilet.

I'm not on them yet, I need to be pain-free for two weeks before I can start them

Please could you give an update after you start? I'm currently on Lifetones but with a lesser dose, as it may interact with daily chronic meds, so not 100 percent effective.

there are a few vegetables that can raise uric acid levels, like spinach, mushrooms and i think broccoli. Not as much as meats and shellfish but if you already are prone to high uric acid levels it can push it over.

I spent my youth eating anything I wanted with no issues. Turned 38 and it was tickets lol. Got gout so badly but took me a while of physio, podiatrists and GPs to finally identify it. I never had the "heat" in my ankle even though it was full of crystals. I've tried many things but so far the best solution has been identifying and avoiding my trigger foods and if i fail to do that, colchicine AND anti-inflammatories.

So far i seem to find beer to be a strong trigger for me too. Which is fine because I'm so bad with alcohol 1 beer has my head spinning anyway. Red meat in moderation like 2-3 times a week ok. Tomato-based sauces also - anything more than once a week and i'm asking for trouble.

You're laughing because it contains plants? Plants do the job and most medication is a synthetic version or there's a really long list where the medicine contains chemicals from the natural plant, eg anabasine . In natural form plants produce less side effects. Breaking down the ingredients and their uses:

Celery: high blood pressure, inflammation and water retention
Nettle: kidney function, rheumatism and gout
Birch: gout, rheumatism, dropsy, kidney stone solvent
Alfalfa: LDL cholesterol and kidney function
Devil's Claw: osteoarthritis, gout and rheumatoid arthritis
Willow: headaches, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and gout
Boswellia Serrate: brain edema, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, joint pain, bursitis, tendonitis

Gout is the worst. I had it once and it was incredibly painful. Seems like it runs in my family though so I expect it'll happen more.

Maybe for you and some others. Everyone has different triggers.

Spot on!

Everyone is different. It took me 15 years to ID my triggers...
Marmite (yeast based extract)
Brown Mushrooms
Asparagus

Drink eat meat, beer like a king in a crusade, swallow tomatoes, and all kinds of other acid foods, no issue....

This is the plan that the doctor gave me now, meds to be taken daily in the am after breakfast:

Week 1
Panafcort 30mg (cortisone)
Puricos 50mg

Week 2
Panafcort 20mg
Puricos 100mg

Week 3
Panafcort 10mg
Puricos 300mg

Week 4
Puricos 300mg

After week 4, we will doing another blood test and then adjust the dosage for chronic use based on the uric acid levels.

The previous test showed a level of 0.49, at which my GP says she hasn't seen a level that high in years!

Hi guys,

So I woke up this morning gout pain in my left foot (big toe).
My last attack was last year around the same time last year.

I am currently not on any chronic medication for it. Do I need to be?
I have colchicine and an anti inflammatory from the pharmacy which I took this morning.
What else helps to ease the pain?

I don't drink much but I do eat a lot of red meat.
Is chicken safe to eat?
Any other meats safe to eat?

Anti-inflammatories help to ease the pain but not stomach friendly.

Gout triggers differ from individual to individual so find out what triggers your attacks.

One other thing to consider: I started having severe gut cramps and pain in January, so much so that one night I almost woke up my wife to be taken to the hospital.

Probiotics were not helping, so anti-spasm meds it was for me, but the cramps would return as soon as I stopped the meds.

My physio then referred me to Synexa Labs for a consultation, and based on a stool analysis, they determined a severe gut floral imbalance (caused by many years of antibiotics).

The Prof also explained to me that due to the floral imbalance, pathogens such as fungi, etc., ploliferate in the gut, which then leads to inflammation in the body, mostly in the pelvic area. Additionally, this means the gut cannot absorb all nutrients nor can it metabolise certain things, Uric Acid being one of them.

The treatment is some very expensive probiotics, one of which has to be imported, and dietary changes - no/little carbs, no sugar, etc. Unfortunately one of the imports is stuck in the Netherlands, because of the lockdown, but so far my stomach is doing much better, and my chronic prostate inflammation seems to be gone for good.

I would highly recommend a consult with Synexa for anyone with gout, digestive issues, and chronic inflammation.

Well, despite being on Puricos for the past 3 months, my right foot feels swollen and sore - I guess it's not foolproof then...
