And also, MyBB is not the only channel for donating. Most people I know have already donated via Gift of the Givers, etc.

I think half the problem is people don't read. MyBB are donating a minimum of R10 per comment, they're not asking anyone else to donate. It doesn't cost you anything to comment in that thread. Even if you've given everything you own, that's no reason to comment there.
 
Well, based on all the differing opinions and comments about society, charity, other members and the MyBB forum itself, seems like MyBB members are present and in top form - nothing wrong with them today! :)

Were we ever asked to comment for shack fire victims? Or are they just not as important?

The point has been raised. My repeated suggestion is that we give the money to GOTG who will hopefully use the money to help poor victims of disasters wherever the need is greatest. I don't think anyone is suggesting that the money be used to give people whose insurance companies are paying for hotel accommodation blankets.

In fact is this what the morons here think is going to happen?

it is not that I do not support the idea at all. its that I feel posting in that thread is the same as turning off ad blocker for a few hours/days (not sure how much it would take for one user to make myBB R10)

I have close friends who live in George - through them we have assisted with donations/food/blankets etc.

I was refering to past events which have effected shack fire & flooding victims.
