After a Win 8 reinstall I'm getting sky-high memory usage on Chrome.

e.g. close to 100meg for a *single* MyGaming tab. Before the reinstall I could open a billion tabs - now windows warns of low memory after like 10.

Any ideas as to whats going on?

i went back to win 7 as borderlands 2 had issues running. but will revisit after sp1 for win8. btw check for classic start menu to get rid of metro.

Oh noez, 100MB! :p

Use CCleaner to clean up history and cache -> should decrease it a bit if I'm not mistaken.

Put moar ram. It's dirt cheap nowadays.

Per tab.

Clean windows install. Clear chrome install.

Getting a new PC within the next week or so. But thats entirely beside the point. This morning it was still fine (on this hardware). Reinstalled Windows & now suddenly Chrome memory usage is 3x what it should be....on the same hardware.

Something is def wrong. Loaded identical tabs tabs into FF & that uses 1/3 as much memory.

I have two tabs open and it uses 330MB. Old install of chrome, never clean the cache. I love having 16GB of DDR3 :)

Chrome was updated recently maybe that's why, I'm back to Firefox after this recent update because fonts look like crap in Chrome. Okay they always looked like crap this update made them worse.

Yeah they definitely broke something. In the stable channel nogal.

Totally amazed at this though. Chrome is aware of FF & shows FF in its own stats (!!!). Tis is with similar tabs loaded into both:

Gonna try the beta channel next. 3x the normal mem usage isn't feasible on a box with 2gig RAM.

Nice to have 8GB RAM in my pc. :)

I am using Chrome 22, it's really really fast and I didn't even notice it uses more RAM.

If I remember correctly we also had very high chrome usage when kilo had a look at our pc's and this was affecting the performance of the computer and it sucks when that causes issues.
