I am also considering between them and Cybersmart, I feel like other isp's charge way too much for the service. I'll see how this situation unfolds, as Vuma is only starting to install fibre where I live.

Uuurgh... No improvement.

Same issues with both of their supplied routers and they still insist nothing is wrong.

Just ordered a TP-Link router from Takealot ... Will cancel if no improvement.

/Sigh

Morning speedtests... just the laptop on the network and nothing else happening;

Hope this lasts... 1st time in weeks that it is usable... cancelling end of this month anyway.

Who to go to next tho'...?

I'm having only positive results with Home-Connect. I'm using SADV as my fibre provider.

Well... Vumatel here is the fibre provider. It used to be good, until we had a cable link error end of last month that took them 8 days to rectify, 8 days of downtime and then erratic throughput issues. Blamed wireless router initially, HC sent a replacement, same issues... throttled international throughput. Home-Connect insist that there is nothing wrong, but they also insisted out link was up for 3 days when in fact it was dead for 8. So who knows.

Back to sub 8Mbs international now... and dwindling. Makes no difference if connected via WiFi or cable.

Sometimes leaving their modem off for 15 minutes helps get 20Mbs-50Mbs international throughput again for a few hours, and then it all is borked again.

Deezer cannot even load at the moment.

Just tired of this run around now. New router arriving this week, looking for Home-Connect replacement ISP in the interim.

I have contacted Home-Connect a few times about poor international speeds and I got some silly answer that speedtest.net is a very bad website to get your actually speed test, but on the same email they asked me to do a speedtest on the speedtest.net for a local server and send them the results, after I sent them the results I was told, "your line seems to be working 100% but we can't be bothered about what speeds you get outside of south Africa" I am extremely upset with Home-Connect and I am hoping to move to a better ISP or if Home-Connect are willing to fix the problem than they will be real value for money. (I am on a 50/50Meg, get max 6 megs on a international speed test and get 50 megs on cape Town or JHB speed test )

Hey guys,

Just moved over to JHB so been lurking on this forum to select a Fibre ISP. Decided to register and write a post for anyone else looking for feedback on Home Connect.
I went with Home Connect due to their pricing. Note the adage " you get what you pay for" applies.

Home connect was slow with the application process. I had to drive every step of the application. The sales person was non-responsive. The stipulated installation time was 2-4 weeks due to Metrofibre needing to do their install.
Metrofibre was pretty quick and the delay was on the Home Connect side.

Due to delays in application they gave me two weeks free and that was only after I logged a Hello Peter complaint and asked them to cancel my application.

I thought I was in the clear however my connection has been down for 6 days now after using their service for less than a week. They have been better with communicating with me however "MetroFibre this...MetroFibre that..." is the go to excuse.
It seems like Home Connect passes on their business risk of dealing with MetroFibre on to the client which is not professional. They don't seem to stand behind their offering and in the end it is your problem.

In addition they control the router so something as simple as changing your Wifi password will have to be done by them.

I am now trying to get the 30 day wait period waived as service has been poor. I have basically used the service for a week (May 4th to May 11th) and I have run into problems already.

Gonna try Firestream and see how it goes.

Some people have had luck with Home Connect but I have had to raise my voice (and blood pressure lol), to get normal service. From my experience I would advise to stay away.

TL;DR: Home Connect is crap. Try elsewhere.

I have been on them for a few months now on 25/25 metrofibre. I have no complaints. Especially for the price, I pay R650. They do not have a FUP on most networks except Openserve. They also have a ok support portal where you can monitor your usage and log faults. I have not had the need to deal with their support so can't comment on that.

I also do not know if they changed their policy about their routers but I have full access to my router, so it is not locked down like stated at the beginning of this thread.

I also have two friends that use them on Vumatel with no complaints either.

Their representative on this forum has disappeared it seems, I would say that is one thing they can improve. It is nice to have a representative on the forum like cool ideas have.

Vuma fibre - best deal/service provider

I'm interested in the Vuma fibre that was installed in my street.
i would like a 20/2 or 20/20 Uncapped unrestricted with Vuma, for roughly between R650/R750pm
on a month to month contract. PLEASE help advise me on the best deal/service provider. thanks.

Has anyone got any recent experience with home-connect?
I have just had Vumatel fibre installed in Bryanston and want the best provider.

Can anybody update on the latest experience and performance? Looking at home-connect because they are much cheaper. Would appreciate recent feedback. Thanks

Recently signed up with them - 50mb fibre. Cannot fault their service nor their product.
So far so good.
