So ive just taken a bet from a friend to make 150k gold, not realy sure how to start so i would like to know how some of you make gold. i was thinking now of using my gathering proffs to farm everyday make 1k an hour from herbs. any ideas on a better way to make gold? whats your way of making gold?

Food

Controling the market of a item or set of items for example controlling the food market gives around 5k profit per day. simply buy all the cheap ****. an reset the market higher. Dragon Flanks , Deepsea Sagefish , Fathom Eels , Highland Guppy etc all are a good idea. as the quantity on the AH is a fairly easy size to control unlike volatiles as there are TONS of them on AH and everyone is undercuttin every few mins.

im sellign stoneblood flasks atm, and leveling scripe, that random cards makes some nice bucks with the milling :)

I've made about 120k gold since the expansion. Truegold + the darkmoon cards = profit.

I'm up to about R140k now, but I can't really say what the work behind that entailed as I also have 4 level 85's now :P

My process was rather simple, I have 1 Miner/Blacksmith, 1 Herbalist/Enchanter, 1 Miner/Herbalist and 1 Alchemist/Jewelcrafter.

I basically just spend 3 days farming resources on my Miner/Herbalist until I ran out of bank and guild bank space and then start dropping my stock on the auction house. I made a point of keeping 7 stacks of every Cata resource for myself though and 5 of each blue gem and 20 of each green gem.

My alchemist is a transmute master so first thing every day I do a truegold transmute, biggest proc thus far was 3 extra bars, so that was about 6k gold for the day on that character. Any green gems or spare herbs go into gem transmutes which I also sell uncut.

Herbs and Ore I just dump for 12 hours at a time on the AH at a price that seems right and collect about 15k a day doing this. Volatiles I sell as soon as I have more than 1 stack...with herbalism I sold 4 stacks this weekend in lots of 30 for between 250g and 300g a lot.

Well I personally don't have as much gold as you guys but here is what I do.

I do random heroics the whole day, and ANYTHING that ends up in my bags go on to the AH. Thats it. It generally generates about 2-4k gold a day, but then again I spent just as much on repairs, gems and enchants and buying mats to level up my progressions. So in the end I don't have any gold to show for it, but it keeps up to my spending rate :)

I sold leather caster bracers for 250-500g, and random world drop epic for 15000g, cloth goes for about 100-150g for stack of 20 ect.

Making money since the start of Cata has been really easy, but I've noticed now things are starting to slow down.

The first 3 days of Cata I spent mining (got two full level ups just from that), while doing that I leveled by BS and was one of the first on the server with some of the 316-333 weapons and plate items which made me a fair amount. Also sold Elem/Pyrite for over the top prices.
Then sat at the AH for the next couple of days and just bought and resold almost any 325+ blue that hit the AH (assuming it wasn't already over priced :p) Also picked up 2 BoE Epics while grinding cloth for my girlfriend so that was about 60k right there.
In total I'd say I've made close to 400k since the start of Cata and I've spent about 150k leveling profs and gearing my girlfriend and myself up (her Christmas present was a Vial of the Sands :D)

As for making cash now, well people are mostly geared and normal dungeons (and HC's to a lesser extent) are easier to complete with PuG's so hopping on the gear bandwagon won't work very well (depending on your server though, eg. if you're one of 5 people in total making BS epics then maybe there's still cash to be made)
Farming is always constant income but definitely not the smartest use of time right now, rather buy mats and make consumables (Flasks are selling really well right now, certain enchants, new BS belt buckle, etc)
Me personally, I sit at the AH after doing my daily HC and whatever dailies I'm in the mood for and wait for Auctioneer to tell me to buy something :p

Also check out The Consortium for tons of gold making information.

PS. if you have a character with enchanting and alchemy you're sorted, make 359 epic alch stone, DE it, profit :)

How exactly do you do this ive tried that a couple of times but i end up with a bunch of unsold mats at the end with no profit at all

Start off by figuring out when your product sells the best. for example i do raid food , the best selling times are tuesdays after raids or wednesday b4 raids ( people restocking from the previous week ) , and then sunday to friday about an hour before raids. what i currently do is ill go buy all the cheap stuff people are undercutting me with. then i put mine up 1g more expensive or at a decent price where ill make a profit. then ill leave up and go do my raid. during mid raid when we have a break , ill check how its selling , undercut or buyout depending on the quantity. and then go raid agtain. and after my raid ill buy ALL the cheap undercuts , and reset the market high , 9g markup PER! Fish/meat so by time the next day comes round. the price has been dropped to normal.

best idea is to practice with 1 item , maybe Fathom Eels for example.

if u got questions gt hold of me ( Nakedhousee - Hellscream EU )

Please explain this more? You DE the stone into a Maelstrom Crystal is that right?

Exactly and with the current content being so new and no epics in HC's there are far fewer crystals available to players than ever before, so being able to create an epic for under 500g and selling a crystal for 1k+ is just easy money.

I would have said JC as with the release it was a gold making powerhouse as always, but now sheesh its worthless. Most blue gems raw/cut are going for about 30-45g each. Truegold is just not worth the effort farming the matts anymore, pretty sure the matts alone are worth more on our server by now.
Flasks and elixir's are insane though, with most guilds starting to raid I think that's about as close to a gold mine as you can get now.

What is the mats for epic Alchemy Stone? Can't check Wowhead as I am at work.

I think the problem with JC is simply that it was too good not to have in WotLK, so come Cata everyone and his uncle was prospecting, cutting and then undercutting. As for truegold, I agree, I'd rather sell my CD daily or transmute Life to Air and make a quick 200g.

Volatile Life (50), Cinderbloom (12), Azshara's Veil (12), Heartblossom (12)

At the start
Darkmoon cards owned
and if you had Enchanting and Alchemy on one toon you could've been rich very quickly:

Make Lifebound Alchemist Stone (epic BOP alchemy only trinket): Farm mats or buy them (700-800g)
Disenchant Stone, Sell maelstrom crystal. was 2500g+- the 1st few weeks on my server

GG, ofcourse mats been crazy expensive, so farming is/was a goldmine, but I'm more for spending little time for lotsa gold :p

Not really in the money making game, but during Wotlk made some gold on my 65 Death Knight Banker. At 65 you could get access to some Wotlk recipies.

Crafted green Wotlk entry level tanking gear. Mats were 4/5 Cobalt bars. Could craft an Item for 8-10g and sell for 30-40g. Sold about 3/4 of each item per day.
Will not get your rich quickly, but was a steady stream of income for me and it only took me about 5 to 10 min a day. Put 3 kids (Alts) through college (Epic flying) with that money.

Don't think this would work in Cata at this stage.

I'm busy with the Darkmoon cards and at 2-3k per card I still haven't been able to sell one. Instead I've started trading duplicates so I can make up decks. On our server, the mats you need to make 10 Inferno Inks is worth more than 2k so the only real way to be making cash is to get the full trinket and sell it for 25-30k :/ Sad part is, if you make 8 cards in perfect order of the same deck, it'll cost you around 18k. The sad reality is you're sitting with duplicates of 2 or 3 and creating 4 different partial decks.

Best I've been able to do is selling off herbs for I farmed in an evening for 5k.

I'll see what the Maelstrom crystals sell for, might be worth looking at that seeing that I have Alchemy and Enchanting on my main. No gathering alt makes life difficult.

qft. try having enchanting and leatherworking. enchanting is easy enough to level up, got like 40 points so far and its cost me 65g or something. leatherworking on the other hand without skinning is a nightmare. normal savage leather goes at about 20g/piece on my server :( got a boe blue on a dungeon run that I traded for 140 savage leathers helped a bit, but not that much :/ the boe was selling for 1k on the AH
