How is cool ideas overall?

your problem may be with TT Connect. Are you in a complex by chance?

Have you logged it with Cool Ideas at all? Can't remember if you said that or not

I was thinking that, but I get the correct speeds on SpeedTests so the line lets me go to those speeds.
I have logged it. They said that they've checked the routes to various sites and they're as fast as they're going to be.

tbh, it sounds like congestion issue with TT Connect, or shaping happening with downloads from them. They may not have the capacity to deal with fibre in your area correctly. The speedtests you are getting is very slow for your line tbh

I called their support line tonight and I was told that it's the location I'm downloading from. When I told the guy that I was getting 90mbps+ both down and up on speedtest.net, but 500 KILOBYTES per second on any download, he stuck to his story. When I told him that I am getting 1.1 Megabytes per second on my 10mbps ADSL line (it's still in the cancellation period), he stuck to his story (he must've been hating himself at this point, but wanted to go home more).

I sent a mail the the sales guy to see if he can help. I believe it's a TT Connect issue, but I'm willing to take the hit and change ISP to see if this issue persists. I'll update you on my progress as this goes on.

Edit: Speedtest.net on LAN gives me 90mbps+ both up and down. Real world download speeds are less than 5% of this. Even YouTube buffers.

Can you try a ubuntu torrent? Ubuntu 16.10 64bit

I downloaded some torrents last night as a test, I downloaded westworld the movie and the tv series, all of this was completed in less than 30 minutes.

Note, this was just to test torrents. Seems to be working fine on my side.

I tried the torrent and got full speed (note, this PC is connected via LAN to a range extender. I get a max of 60megabits per second download and 90+mbps upload, so this is full speed for the download... which I'm happy with)
Edit: I'll test it tonight on a LAN connection when I'm home.

I tried an HTTP download and was getting less than 10megabits per second (less than 1 megabyte per second) download.

So I'm not sure if the HTTP is just slower, but that's a lot slower.

Good torrenting speed doesn't help streaming SuperSport, Netflix and YouTube.

I stream Netflix daily, I stream at 1080p with 5.1 surround sound using my PS4.

Supersport as well, works perfectly. Same with Youtube, however Youtube on my PS4 and PS3 is giving me trouble, saying it cannot connect to the server. That I think may be a console problem.

As for twitch, also works 100%

All these stream at high quality without buffering.

The Cool Ideas guys are going to try help me out with TT Connect. They're an amazing bunch of people.

I'm on leave next week so hoping we can get this sorted out when I'm at home.

I've been deleting games on my Xbox One that I bought because I thought I could just download them quickly again when I wanted to play. So sorting out this issue next week would be amazing.

I have to be honest, Xbox downloads has always been slow to me, even on adsl, it was slow as hell to download anything on the X1. As if there is a bandwidth limit on it.

PS4 downloads I know is working fine. a bit slower than if I download somewhere else, but that is to do with server capacity from PSN side I believe

Will try it in the morning and provide results. My laptop battery is about to die.
The Ubuntu HTTP maxes out at approx 700kilobytes per second. Traceroute gives up after 64 tries to the SAIX server.

I'm having this exact same scenario on Webafrica via Fiberhoods: lightning fast speed tests, lightning fast local downloads, but anything international is being throttled no matter how many simultaneous connections I use for the download. International seems to max out about 1.8MB/s, compared to 12MB/s on local. My LTE Uncapped is faster by a large margin for international.

It actually prompted me to cancel my Webafrica Account (I'm going with Cool Ideas) - so I hope you come right!!

Can you switch between Fibre accounts? I want to try Afrihost or other providers to see if my problem persists...

The problem I have is that I've got a 100Mbps up and down Cool Ideas account on a TT Connect line and my downloads (Usenet and HTTP) are slower than they were on my 10Mbps ADSL line and less consistant. Speedtests always give me in the 90'sMbps.
We think this may be MTU relative on the TT Connect network. So shouldn't be too difficult to resolve for you.

I'm struggling to get consistent downloads on my 100/10 line from Cool Ideas. I've had it for just over a week, and my experience has been mixed, I'm not sure where the problem lies.
Speedtest is consistently giving me 96mbs. Download speeds are absolutely all over the place on my xbox one and PS4. Xbox one can give me anywhere from 90mbs right down to 100kbs, and there seems to be no consistency at all. At times - it just won't download at all. PS4 test gives me 6mbs down and 7mbs up! And it will be like that for a few hours, then all of a sudden, speeds pick up again (same on Xbox). Nat settings randomly change from Open to moderate. I'm pulling my hair out. Anyway I've logged a second support ticket - perhaps they can find something wrong.

The networks of the consoles are dying because people are downloading digital games bought on black Friday and other Xmas specials.

Steam does the same thing on PC when there's a really big sale.

So from all my testing, it seems as if it's International traffic that's the issue. Local speeds are amazing. Using the IS news server, I'm getting full speed. International news servers are slower on my fiber than my ADSL (so it's not the speed of the destination server that's an issue).
The Cool Ideas support team told me that they're upgrading their International connection this week. :)

Just to add my support for Cool Idea's. Not the smoothest Fibre launch ever, but their heart is in the right place & willing to help out.
Had an initial issue with support where they seemed like they were just not interested/invested in my connectivity well being.
However, I spoke to Paul and he's been brilliant to date.

I couldn't agree more. I know we'll get this all resolved soon. Their support team are amazing and it feels like we're working together to get me my best experience instead of us fighting with one another.

Yeah so we have doubled our international capacity and should be doubling it again in January 2017 :).

Can't wait for current contract to end. And wanting to join cool ideas. Seems like a excellent isp
