How is cool ideas overall?

Hi Nightshade, we haven't had any international drops of late, this is why I mentioned that you should please reach out to me directly so we can try and resolve your issue.
 
Can anyone comment on their experience streaming 1080p videos on exodus (debrid links) with cool ideas?
 
Just signed up with Cool Ideas and so far I am very happy. Well priced and they offer good service.

The only thing which I think they should work on is making it clearer what types of routers Cool Ideas supports.

When I signed up, I could see that getting the router was free, but I had no idea whether I needed it or not. I already have a router at home with a WAN port, but I also know that SADV required me to use their own router because of Calix. I asked Cool Ideas to clarify, but they never responded. So I decided to get their router because it was free and because I might end up needing it because of something like Calix.

I get the router, and ask them if I could use my own, and they respond saying that I can use my own, I just need to enter the username and password, which they provided me. So, my own router works fine with its WAN port. I don't need theirs at all.

I asked them if they wanted their router back and they said no.

Anyway, the point is, it could make things a bit cheaper for Cool Ideas if they gave customers proper information on what type of routers were supported and whether they needed a Cool Ideas router or not.

Hi Ancalagon, we supply the router for free so long as you use the service, it is not a give away router :). And even though you are using your own we would prefer you have a spare anyway.

I just feel like I have costed you money for something I don't need. If I'd known that my own router would work, I wouldn't have ordered yours.

I'm considering signing up with you guys once my Vumatel is live (hopefully no more than a month) and I too would not need your router (using pfSense VM on an N36L which has served me well for years)

On the other hand, a Wifi AP would be more useful (still have a WRT54G in the roof which will be too slow)

Why not offer clients the option of a router OR a Wifi AP, depending on their specific requirements?

Hey Mitch, we would love to, but can you imagine trying to keep track of every piece of hardware for specific clients.

We also cant really be responsible for the way wireless behaves in the thousands of homes that get wifi, and offering AP's open yourself up to all of those kinds of responsibilities. The router we supply can be used as an AP as well should you want to use it as an AP.

Specific requirements and scale unfortunately don't mix very well :).

Haven't seen ye on IRC for a while?

Great, will probably look at using it is an AP then. As for IRC, I'm always there, just too busy to chat / not able to add anything to the discussion.

Recent SCU upgrade no longer covers my direction (as suspected), so I'm officially off for good it seems (it was a fun eleven years!)

Well we have fibre to 2 of the sites now, so will probably transit for Jawug to peering sites like NAP and JINX. We will also have the direct peer so you can access wug via our fibre :).
 
Joined Cool Ideas a few months ago overall has been a good experience.

However PBCool could you please change the time of the sms which informs us that an invoice has been generated. It currently wakes me up at 5:55 am.

Got everything setup on my side with TT Connect. Will hopefully get to pick up the router tomorrow.

One issue I faced though is that I want to setup a debit order, but there's no where on the portal where I can set one up?

If you completed the application form with us it will be loaded for you, but you can do it by just paying the first invoice and selecting debit order at the end for payment.

I did :) TT Connect came over for instillations when i registered with you guys :)

I'm just waiting on router mostly now. I'm really hoping I get to pick it up today. Don't wanna go through the weekend with no internet :(
 
So today is day 1 with Fibre and Cool Ideas.

Website loads so quick! I don't even see a buffer on YouTube! Xbox updated really quick as well! Man I love this!

Huge thank you to Cool Ideas for all the help and for making this setup really easy! You guys are awesome! :)
