I'm on 4mb standard and I've been throttled by mweb for a week now and even though I have lessened my habits things haven't gotten better, I would argue they're worse. The throttling is so bad there are times I can't do much, not even read any news articles. It's like I've been thrusted back to dial up days. It feels like i'm going to be throttled til the end of time, anything I can do to make it better?

I think it should reset at the start of the New month.

Move over to a capped account

i would also look around at the other isp's capped accounts with all these free midnight data around, i wouldn't look at uncapped

AFAIK MWeb base their throttling on a rolling 30 day window so you'll probably need to upgrade your account to avoid this happening on an ongoing basis.

Best to contact them and see what they recommend.

It's a 30 day rolling period if I'm not mistaken.
Stop using bittorrent and it should get better

yeah the throttling will stop as soon as you move to a good ISP.

actually, downloading AAA games on the PS4 will make you hit the cap on the standard account. Also, streaming using Showmax for 8 hours a day will make you hit your cap as well.

Really? Interesting about ShowMax. Netflix / iTunes hasn't caused me to get throttled ever. I wonder why ShowMax is treated differently

As near as I can tell from traffic graphs Showmax is streaming at around 1.5Mbps so we're looking at around 0.7GB/hr (16GB/day).

nothing. don't do anything for the next 30 days, they will restore the speed back to normal. just wait.

trust me ;)

Hi , your account is throttled as a result of your usage for the past 30 days exceeding approximately 110 Gig's.

Our system imposes throttling using a 30 day rolling window, so usage won't revert to zero at the start of each new month. Today the system would consider usage from 21 November to 21 December. Tomorrow the system would consider usage from 21 November to 21 December, removing usage stats from 30 days ago.

Our My Account page lists your usage and, when selecting the days in question, shows you the upload and download data stats as well. This should help you work out how long the throttling will be imposed as your usage patterns would determine this.

Please PM me your preferred contact number and I'll arrange for the relevant department to call you to chat about your alternate options.

Get a premium uncapped account if you want to reduce your risk of getting throttled.

All home uncapped accounts are aimed at low to moderate usage before FUP kicks in.

Go troll elsewhere, troll

Do yourself a favour OP, give them notice. It is also coincidentally a calendar month that they will continue to stick the knife in. Get yourself a proper ISP that doesn't throttle you after a pitiful amount of gigs for "uncapped". Also, please note that there are MWEB shills on this forum, as evidenced in this thread and here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...e-still-fine-says-ASA?p=16773445#post16773445

MWEB used to be good, don't get me wrong. If you are an old tannie that just emails and facebooks all day long, it's the perfect ISP for you. If you actually want to use the Internet, get a proper ISP.
