How Telkom installed my line

Can't see your picture but I had a very bad experience with the installation at the office. After 3 months of yoyo line and with them coming back 3 times, we just fixed it ourselves.

It's quite sad when the inexperienced customer has more technical capability than the Telkom dude.

That's why I did my own wiring when I installed ADSL at home.
I asked the Telkom technician to get the drop wire from the pole to my roof and test it on the roof.
I then got him to leave me about 30 meters of drop wire and a connection box and I laid the cable and soldered all the joints myself.

Looking at the condition of the "wall coating" covering the cable it wouldn't surprise me if the techie responsible retired long ago.

Actually for that era it's not too bad, at least the actual joins were properly sealed :D

Does look shoddy but thats pretty normal from my experience. They always use those one-time wire hand crimp connectors and then leave them exposed. My telephone cable that went from the pole across the road to my house kept being snapped, first by monkeys then by high trucks a couple of times. I kept fixing it myself (can't wait weeks for them to just join 4 wires) but there were multiple joins from telkom techies which only used those connectors. They have a sort of glue/gel inside and crimp the wires in there. I presume fully isolated, but still.
