How the WITS student voting will work

LOL! Why would anyone disrupt a place of learning because they want learning?

Nuff said. :D

Learning for a few privileged people vs Discussion for all

This is a fallacy. Kindly show me any credible study which backup your assertion.

SammyD does seem to live in lala land. Money for free education comes from somewhere...

If you're lazy to read the other thread, please don't try to join the conversation uninformed.

Yebo. I would be shocked at the statement, but this is Sammy after all.

Ok

Learning for a few privileged people vs Discussion for all

BWAHAHAHA :)

Edit: the same group that is being prevented from studying would be the same group at the meeting?

Wtf should you get free education when I had to pay my debt back? So after getting your degree you also expect to get free courses from private institutions, certs etc?

What are you studying btw?

Once again, you'd still eventually pay the money back. What the hell do private institutions have to do with anything?

PSA: If anyone is unclear on the model proposed (disclaimer: Not by student), the older thread should help.

What, you expect me to study/read on my own? WTF is wrong with you! I require fees dammit :D

Ok Splinter. You're not serious about this conversation. Step aside.

I am as serious you, sweetness. But, "step aside"? You want to prevent me from having my say? Oh, the shock.

That tertiary education reduced poverty? Try reading it again.

Umm - your claim was FREE tertiary education. Doubt anyone here claims that tertiary education does not reduce poverty.

If you want to have your say, have an informed say. I'm certainly not gonna repeat a 297 post thread just because you're too lazy to read.

Umm - stop repeating the jibe about me being lazy; I would prefer an answer as to my comment as to you wanting me to "shut up". Ok?

@SammyD - I think you missed this post.

Free higher education will ensure that a lot of our problems sort themselves out. Like poverty for example. Which will sort out housing problem and everything that goes with it like sanitation etc.

Major fail. Try again. Troll harder this time.

Heavy debt burden to start off. Some people can't obtain loans etc.

The graduate tax discussed in the other thread is basically paying back the money except its in much smaller amounts.
SammyD would you be happy if the government declared that all current students would continue to pay fees. Once they graduate they will be the first to give this graduate tax. And any students enrolling afterwards will get free education and be required to pay graduate tax once they start working?

Some common sense. Free education will remove financial barriers for students and the above study becomes relevant to each and every one of those students.

He/she loves to move the goalposts.

Are we back there again?

And which post would that be? Haven't seen anything resembling a question from you.

Did you miss this one?

I'd be happy if they did it in the next year or two. And every graduate would pay a graduate tax otherwise the amount collected would obviously fall very short.

Why not do a sliding scale. Reduce the fees every year by taxing the increasing amounts of graduates that come out after this rule. It's not fair to tax people that had to pay their own way.

So we have moved from a formal study to "common sense"? Shift, shift, again :). Anyway, common sense says you do not burn down the institution you want free education in. Also, common sense says you do not prevent those who want to study, from studying.

Anyway - isn't this your study time? :)
