How the WITS student voting will work

That Sammy and his chums are doing, is exactly the same the Nazi youth did in Germany.

They just want to bully everybody into submission, democracy is not their friend.

How about, we want to go back to class, but our demands must be met first.

So you don't have a reply

And why must anyone aquise to your demands? How does your protest make them any more valid?

If you're on Vodacom I can gift you the airtime for your vote..
This is a great idea let the SRC set up some kind of donation fund to give the students to unfortunate to vote R5 airtime

I'm not involved. I'm pointing out that government needs to get the finger out of their fat arses and help students who need help.

I'd also will the students to go back to studies and find a common consensus on how to take the fight to government that doesn't involve violence and intimidation.
I think the problem here is u want government to do everything for u or the students. why?

Except SammyD of course, I know it's undemocratic of me but he can go blow a Gupta for his vote money I don't care.

I don't want anyone to do anything for me thanks. I have a degree a good job and a good salary.

But I think as a society we have to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and as a country, government should ensure education takes priority over self aggrandizement.

Keerist, Dali Mpofu strikes again, tried to get an interdict against the poll.

All the students that somehow managed to get Dali Mpofu involved should be listed on the court roll for the application, should they not?

Funny how threatened these protester types feel by this poll.

Just more proof that the EFF is actually behind all of this...

Nothing decided by this poll is legally binding because it's not a referendum and even if it was, nothing in the university statute says anything about a decision by referendum therefore it would be null. This thing is just a waste of money by the university when we can, as the rules state, have an assembly at no additional cost.

Secondly, I know the vote is free but just so you know a balance of R0.00 is a real thing and I've never heard of any provider selling R0.30 airtime.
The rioters will just disrupt an assembly. Stones, fire extinguishers, dancing and singing and a general refusal to allow any official from the university to speak. Nothing will get done.

That and we're talking about more than 30 000 people.

How can you not afford 1 SMS. I'll send you airtime if its such a problem.

Oh come on. Im not talking about the cost of an SMS. Read my post after. Im saying that it could be construed as a vote to return for those who can afford it.

Well of course... but my thought process is that if the student names are on the court application, then it should be publicised across the varsity that those students want to force their opinion on everyone and prevent them from getting a degree.

Right to protest.
Yes but not the right to riot, the right to throw stones, the right to intimidate others and chase them from their lectures, the right to deny others the right to freedom of movement and freedom of disassociation.

We all know mass meetings/ a general assembly would be dominated by the loud-mouthed dolts leading the protest.

A poll is a perfectly acceptable way to gauge actual student opinion.

Sammy and chums know they are going to lose by a large margin, hence all the excuses coming in.

Nobody is stopping people not involved in the protest to attend the assembly

Why not take your demands to an institution that can meet your demands? The single gain that #feesmustfall won in 2015 was achieved after a visit to the Union Buildings.

The Wits SRC discouraging participation in this poll suggests to me that they are aware that they do not represent the majority of students. Which lead to the question: who do they represent?

If you didn't know, tomorrow is treasury day. Btw, there are tons of internal issues directed at the university that they need to address.

Exactly, Sammy is panicking 'cos he knows an electronic poll cannot be disrupted like the ****-stirrers do assemblies. Also kinda difficult to intimidate people when they're spread geographically..

Foiled by democracy, lol.

Sorry buddy. Nobody is panicking because this is nothing more than an opinion. This electronic poll can just as easily bd rigged by the university. Democracy of the privileged?

Not really, we just don't buy the BS you're trying to spin...

Since you've already discounted all a counts I've made, I'm asking you since this statement was made, what violence has taken place with marches and meetings everyday since then except Saturday (study break).
