How to get Telkom FTTH line without data?

Yeah but your first mistake was moving your line from Telkom to save R50 or R100. I have huge issues trusting ANY ISP to manage my line, because when you have issues they have to "fight" on your behalf to get my line fixed. I'll rather be in charge of that and phone Telkom 15 times a day for progress updates etc...

I've never had a line with Telkom. And Afrihost were great when I had issues. The first time I needed a technician to repair a fault I let Afrihost handle it - a guy was at my door in 48 hours.

Hi All,

Have followed this thread with great interest and I am going to migrate my DSL line to fiber and "rent" a line from ISP Afrika.

To those that have gone this route, how has the experience been for you? Was it worth it? Any tips and advice? ISP Afrika any good?

I currently rent a line from Telkom and have a 200GB account with Afrihost.

I've done this - Excellent service from ISPAfrika.

I use an Afrihost 200GB capped account with Afrihost Plus+ on the line. Absurdly fast speeds.

I also have my line with ISPAfrika. Good service. No issues.

Anybody know what the wait time is for fiber installation on ISPAfrica? WebAfrica is 6-10 Weeks!

Nothing to do with any ISP. ISPAfrika never installed my fibre, Telkom did. As they do for everyone.

Bryn, So in the end you got your FTTH from Telkom and your data access from? Who supplied the router?

And how long did it take from date of order to installation?

A long time. Over two months. The waiting list was huge even back then, and that was early days for FTTH in PE.

No. I was saying that Telkom does all installations. The ISP that orders an installation on your behalf makes no difference. I ordered my line through ISPAfrika and for the first two months got my data from Afrihost. I subsequently changed to Crystal Web.

I got my Telkom fibre between 2-3 months from order.

Mine was complicated because Telkom mixed up the ERF numbers for my property and took an extra 2-3 weeks because of it.

Funnily enough Web Africa phoned me 3 months AFTER my fibre was installed to say that my order couldn't be processed because my property wasn't provisioned for fibre... WTH WA??

Is it still possible to get aTelkom fibre line (with the small data package) from ISPAfrika? I can only find super expensive uncapped packages on their website?

Ispafrika still has capped packages but they just trying to highlight the uncapped on their website
