HTC DESIRE HD

Also decided not to wait any longer for the official HTC updates so went the whole hog. From stock ROM to rooted. Radio S-OFF, SuperCID, Engineering S-OFF, LeeDroid HD GB. Restoring my data now, will see what's new after that.

Sorry - meant when you flash with another rom :p

Depends on the rom used, some replace just the radio, other replace the boot, some just over wight the core OS, some wipe and replace the entire phone memory.

Best practice would be to back-up and then restore if needed. for that normally using apps like titanium back-up is advised.

Gmail Exchange ActiveSync server address: m.google.com
Gmail Exchange ActiveSync domain: google
Gmail Exchange ActiveSync user name: Your full Gmail address (e.g. [email protected])
Gmail Exchange ActiveSync password: Your Gmail password
Gmail Exchange ActiveSync TLS/SSL required: yes

If it doesn't work, try with a blank domain. Otherwise just try every few hours; the google servers responsible seem to go on the blink every now and again.

It worked thanks

awesome thanks bud , I will give it a shot as well just got to back up everything first lol any one know any good back up apps they have used with out rooting.

So, how did it go? Also, have you rooted your Desire HD before performing this update, i.e. are you running a custom ROM, or is it the stock standard Desire HD?

Thing is I cant find a app that will back up properly , Titanium req root and I dont want to unless some one can provide me with a good enough reason to
But even still ,whats the best way to back up everything.

You can always use the https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro back-up, it doesn't need root but its not as good a titanium.

As for the reason to root, you dont have to, it just gives you access to more things like Google Navigation, Titanium back-up and Market Enabler and others.

My wife got an HTC Desire HD as an upgrade yesterday. I don't know if there are any APN settings you have to change like I did with my Iphone, but we are having some small problems with the HD.

It worked quite well for the first hour or so then it's like it switches off it's data (3G) network connection. Couldn't download email or browse the internet at all.

Now this morning my wife said it doesn't want to receive incoming calls and doesn't want to dial out.

I don't know much about Android so I was hoping someone here could help with the problem.

Thanks!

Thats a rather odd problem? have you checked your account balance? It sounds more SP related than phone, unless you went nuts on the settings

Sounds like a RICA (activation) issue. My fiance had the same issue and had to wait 48hrs before it was all sorted again. When she did the upgrade, someone left out that it had been RICA'd already so was disconnected. Phone your ISP and find out.

I'll try that first then. Yes the phone has been RICA'd and I don't think the account balance would be the problem.

I just spoke to my wife now again and it seems like it's the same as a problem on another there HERE

Thank you I appreciate your advice .

Just a quick question. How do you make your emails not download automatically but only when you want it to?

Disable gmail sync and add the mail to your mail app as a pop account

Or just disable Automatic Sync. under Account & sync in Setup

I used Appmonster for my Apps and MobileBackup II for my SMS, mail, logs etc. Worked fine for me, depends on what you want to keep.

Appmonster looks pretty cool ...

I only backup my sms ... and I use "SMS Backup and Restore"

You can also look at AppAdmin ... It gives you options to batch uninstall (thought you will still have to click uninstall and confirm for each app)
and a batch "move to SD card" option

Don't need to backup anything else ...

All my contacts are on my google account...
