HTC Desire Shortage

The Desire was available in SA in May if I am not mistaken. It was announced in Feb2010 and released in March2010. The Desire HD was Announced in Sept2010 and will only be released in October/November. That tells me that with Christmas and all we will probably only see the Desire HD next year February??? Im sticking with the Desire for now...might be a while before we see the HD coming to our shores.
 
Been waiting for 2.5 months now :(, atleast i can get the Desire HD now or the Evo.
Contemplating getting the iphone 4 *slaps himself*.

Does anyone know if MTN Has it?
 
On the Iphone forum it seems that people are saying that mtn has it, I am not sure though. iphone.....yucky, oh and dont forget to cut half of your hand off if you want signal :-D

Vodacom is really peeing me off now, saw people who registered for Pre-order of 4G have now been notified that they are *out of stock*. shouldnt they have taken pre-orders only for the amount of the first shipment??

I spoke to guys at LEAF, the have confirmed that stock of the desire for vodacom has arrived over the weekend. But, this shipment only had 500 units.... and as per vodacom there are almost 2000 orders. not to fear as in the first week of October a second shipment is arriving with 1000 units which should hopefully saturate the back orders.... I hope so.... also distribution takes about 34 hours..vodacom MENLYN and Centurion, I hope you guys are sleeping with one eye open, cause im about to pounce.....again......this time im not leaving till I have my baby!!!

So, has anyone received a Desire since the weekend. Just phoned my local Vodashop and they told me its still on back order, with no ETA...
 
Nope, I'm still waiting too. My Vodacom shop was surprised when I said the shipment came in over the weekend. They said it would take a couple of days for Cape Town to get it though. Will call again tomorrow, hoping for the best.
 
I was looking since it was released.... constant stock issues - leaf are pathetic.
 
Lab88 has in stock, but R6 888 seems a bit steep. Lab88 having stock and Vodacom not, makes me curious. How much stock did LEAF allocate to Lab88 and how much to Vodacom, MTN etc.

Yes, it was a bit steep. But I got gatvol with my existing phone, so walked in and walked out with the beauty. Mistakenly also walked away with the demo model in my pocket, but took it back. That was a couple of weeks ago.
 
Funny thing is that Vodacom has not yet confirmed the shipment of HTC's (spoke to them late on Thursday).

I see people saying bad things about LEAF and I hope that they aren't lying to me. The people at LEAF seem to be helpful,
BUT...
maybe they are just saying things to make them look good? :twisted:

I am sick and tired of waiting. I want to get the Desire from MTN, unfortunately I made the mistake of upgrading phone and contract, so if I back out and cancel everything now the most probably will charge me for the contract ending 2012? :confused:
 
Well if the phone was part of your contract, and you didn't get it - I'd assume you have every right to cancel your contract?
 
Yeah we will see what happens now, since I've requested a cancellation quote.

Vodacom were VERY surprised when I called and said LEAF's shipment had arrived. I think its pathetic that Vodacom dont know whats going on after a week...
 
When you do get the phone it is awesome!
 
That the whole joke of the situation, "Desire"

Anyways, how the hell can Leaf say that the shipment has arrived, then tell me 48 hours for distribution, then Vodacom = eish.....we dont know about this allegations you are making......

When did you phone them, and which branch was this, just for interest sake??
 
Last time I phoned was on Saturday. Phoned the Vodacom 4U branch in Cavendish, CT
 
Yeah, cause you know I was would have thought that CT would receive the first stock, but doesn't look like it...... anyways those LEAF guys also said there would be a second shipment the first week in October...but yeah....
