HTC One X

Yip running Ordroid's JB ROM on my rooted one X and its awesome, phone is just brill, good battery life (unless u di heavy gaming), I get 35 to 40 odd hrs from it, using the cam mod allows for 0 compression of photos, IQ is brill too.

When you say "awesome" what are you comparing to? Were you on sense prior to that? Tried ICJ or CM10? Is it as snappy?

CM 10 etc are good to, but the tweaked stock ROM by Ordroid and the Renovate one are great (better), more responsive and snappy compared to ICS, this will only get even better once kernel source is available and the developers can start tweaking the kernel, at the moment it's stock. The HTC One X is my first HTC after having a Xperia S, and I must say, as good as the S was the HOX is one another level, it's beautifully built (S3 is very Tupperware plasticity to me and I hate the rounded shape), and I have had no hassles at all, it's a serious machine! Had it 3 months now, and just been brilliant.

I think it will take a while, Vodacom are notoriously slow in releasing stuff, they take a few months to test it etc I reckon if you have it before beginning of next year it'll be a miracle, I remember waiting quite a few months for ICS in SA from Vodacom after its official release. I think the same will be true for JB. I unlocked my HOX the day after I got it, xda has some amazing tools that make the process so easy now, not a mission like it as when I unlocked and rooted mine.

voda and mtn are idiots
as many times as they've tested firmware, they have not once sent it back for changes to be made. we get the exact fw as europe in the end. they should just let the updates roll out when they are released

Also a big fan of HTC. First one was the old TyTN II with the slide out and tilt keyboard which was followed by the HD2 and the last one (which I still use) is the Desire HD with an ICS rom flashed to it.

Currently in the market for a replacement, will give the HOX a good look.

wait for the one x + rather. the one is now old

don't think it'll be worth the wait... gonna take months for it to arrive and the only diffs is the 1.7 GHz quad core and 2100 mAh battery on X+ vs 1.5 GHz and 1800 mAh, and that extra battery is just to compensate for the 1.7 GHz vs 1.5 GHz (the 1.7 will use a bit more battery). and if speed is your thing the guys on XDA have tweaked kernels on the HOX to over 1.7 GHz... Buuut if you wanna wait that's cool too, but me, I'd want the HOX now, not the HOX+ in a few months time (if it even comes to SA, it should though). The HOX is my first HTC, and man its awesome, I've had no hanging or anything, battery life is good (30 to 40 hrs per charge, depending on use), only hassle is getting accessories, I used www.clove.co.uk to bring some stuff in for me, took 4 days, which is nothing....

i realised a while ago i was actually a closet htc fanboi - tytn, touch diamond, nexus one, one x. my last 4 phones.

is your onex behaving now?

desire was fantastic, the one x had lots of issues so not so sure of htc at the moment.

want to get a windows phone so its the lumia 920 vs 8x. 8x is cheaper but just hoping i get no issues...

It was only really the wifi antenna issue, which affected wifi signal and network signal, these were fixed in June, as mentioned I've had mine for about 3 months and its been great. but ya if you wanna give windows a whirl then either of the Lumina 920 and the 8x will be great I reckon.

mine never had the wifi issue, but it had serious signal issues where i lost signal randomly
after 4 visits to the repair centre. it now seems ok ( touch wood)

if you type *#*#4636#*#* and tap on Phone Information, see what Preferred network setting is, should be GSM auto PRL, if its WCDMA or what ever change it, that stuffs up signal reception too, also if go to Settings, Mobile data network and tap on APN's if you have Vlive and Vodacom internet delete Vlive, it does n't work with certain apps, then tap on Vodacom Internet one and once it opens up the settings scroll to bottom of page and under one of the settings you see "xxxxxxxxx, hipri" change hipri to supl with these changes connectivity and apps not connecting sometimes to the data network will be fixed.

hoping something happens tom
taiwan and india rollouts began on friday or monday.lets hope for uk update tom
Any Indication of when Jelly bean update will be available ?

I'm most likely upgrading over the weekend. I really want the One X. Cause it's sexy and stuff. Have the issues been sorted out in the latest builds? I'm with MTN. If it stops working, will they replace it or let me choose another phone? What's their policy on that?

This will most likely sound silly, but I don't like the colour scheme of the One X+. I dig the white One X. And the grey is allright. But the red highlights are a bit flashy for me...
