I'm on WA SAIX shaped. During the day, when I normally browse intl sites, watch Youtube videos or download any files from websites, I get a transfer rate of around 40KB/s on my 384Kbps line. As expected.

However, today I tried to watch a few Youtube videos, downloaded files from sites like softpedia.com and filehippo.com and I can't get faster than 6 to 10KB/s for any of the downloads. However, when I load the SITES, it's normal speed of 40KB/s. Why the difference? It was always the same speed for browsing, downloading from sites etc.

It is as if there is now severe port shaping taking place and only browsing websites is at normal speed for me. I understand that on a shaped account that watching streaming videos will receive a lower priority on the network during business hours but it has never been this bad.

But what really bothers me is that HTTP downloads should be the same speed as browsing sites since that's never been shaped before, since both are using the HTTP protocol.

Anyone else expering this?

Notice Ref : NN0003533
Failure Type : Fault Condition
Status : New
Problem Description : Link - Link down between Rosebank LIR to Hongkong
Impact : Customers may experience slow international connectivity
Time Down : 2009-09-02 15:11
Sites : Rosebank
Affected : Leased Line users
Cause : Unkown
ETTR : 1 Hour
Progress : Faul reported to Telkom Malaysia,Busy investigating.

According to the full SAIX noticeboard message, only leased line users are affected. Normally if ADSL is affected, it is usually mentioned specifically... the WA Status page is therefore incomplete since it gives the wrong impression. Unless the SAIX noticeboard guy was lazy with his typing. :)

well i dont get it, im getting crawling speeds to UK and back; pings around 1K and downstream like 0.2mbs :(
