Huawei AX3 Router

That is really weird. I've setup a number of these and they all connected first time, every time. Run ws5200/AX3 (wireless) at home and B618/ws5200 (cabled) at the office. Can't imagine why yours isn't working. Sorry bud.

Hopefully @AfriNatic is able to find something in his testing.
Now that you mention it, my parents have a b618 and AX3, also connected via cable, and they don't mesh either. Although at the time though I wasn't aware they could, I will have to recheck their network as well.

In each case, which do you use as your primary?

At home I've got the ws5200 as primary which allows me to put the AX3 more central to cover more of the house with wifi6 (primary is in the study where the ONT is).

At the office the B618 is primary as we use the LTE for our data connection.

Thanks.

If I could bug you for one more thing, would you mind checking the firmware versions of your routers?
Mine both says they are up to date but you never know.

WS5200 is 10.0.5.8 (C1539)
AX3 is 11.0.2.13 (patch02) - but this is the Chinese version of the hardware, so it might be slightly different to yours.

My WS5200 is on : 10.0.2.19
AX3: 10.0.5.28 (C1539)

Are both your routers Chinese hardware versions or only the AX3?

Hey,

I didn't manage to find a WS5200 and Ax3 combo myself to test but spoke to colleague that has it setup and he didn't have any issues setting it up.
Thanks for the reply. So then that leaves me out in the cold, and I still don't know how to fix it. I'm assuming your colleague has it set up in mesh mode, not two separate Wifi systems?

I also tried Huawei support from their website. Wow, beyond useless. Operator couldn't help and I'm still waiting for their follow-up communication- I don't think he even knew what a mesh network is.

Where are you located?

I would say one of the device is faulty. Did you get both from us?

No, Only the AX3. I bought the WS5200 from Takealot after reading about the mesh capabilities on the Afrihost help page. I stand to be corrected but the WS5200 wasn't/isn't available for purchase from you.

We used to sell the WS5200 before the AX3.

If you get a change it would be nice if you can visit the Walk in to test these devices as they will be able to advise whether it's the AX3 of WS5200 that is faulty. If the AX3 is faulty then we can replace it while you are there. If it's the WS5200 then at least you know and can arrange that with Takealot.com

Cool, thanks. Was not aware of a walk in centre. I see now there is one in Sandton, a bit out of my way but I'll see if I can make a plan.

Okay if you do let me know how it goes. Our Walk in centre is open normal working hours excluding public holidays. 2am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

I've tried to configure via the web interface, via HiLink, as well as both the old and new AI life apps from Huawei, on both routers. I've made sure Hilink is on, on both routers, even manually changed the passwords for those to match. Still nothing.

Using their own DHCP server with their original IP addresses?
