Not sure I understand your question. Do you mean my local network DHCP? Or the DHCP / IP from my ISP? I'm on Openserve so internet connection is not via DHCP from Afrihost (PPPoE).

On local network, I've set up the main router with DHCP, but with the IP range of 10.0.0.x (old force of habit). Secondary router was factory reset and connected via cable (as well as the various other attempts mentioned), and from what I've read in this thread, that should be the end of it. It's supposed to pick up it's settings automatically from the main router (and therefore use the same IP range) but it doesn't.

Give it a go on 192.168.0.x maybe

As a wireless router? I have a TP Link Archer D7 that I tried to set up as a wireless router, bit would not work as it's a DSL router. How did you do it? The MicroTik I got WIFi is degrading by the day. The 5ghz channel is now only available if you stand right next to the router. When we just got it, it was fine.

Reset it again and don’t change the IP.

Both of them for that matter.

How did it not work?

Anything can be turned into a wireless access point without routing.

Do you mean to replace it as a fibre router? Does it have a WAN port?

I'll go ahead and try that. But I'll be honest, if that's the issue it's gonna be a pretty stupid fail on Huawei's part.

Exact same issue I had.

Hence why it’s now on 192.168.3.*

Was also changing to 10.0.0.*

Yep, I would not pick up internet. I was setting it up as a router, not access point.

Yeah without a WAN port it can’t be a Router.

If it has a WAN port and this is a managed Mikrotik from your ISP then the problem is laying in that configuration.

That's a solid no.

Did factory reset on the primary, it reverted to 192.168.3.x as per factory settings. Kept as is. Setup PPPoE, setup Wifi.

Reset the secondary router and connected it via cable. The primary router didn't pick it up and didn't automatically configure it. Configuring it via the app, the result is that the secondary routers IP range changes from the default 192.168.3.x to 192.168.4.x and I again end up with two Wifi networks (same SSID) on two different subnets. No mesh network.

And you did plug into the WAN on the second one?

Very strange indeed.

But yeah it was quite odd for me as well.

It has a WAN port, that is where I connected the cable from the modem to. I did find on Google that it does seem to be an issue. The TP Link is quite old anyways, I might upgrade to an Asus RT-AX82U.

Is the Mikrotik a managed router you don’t have access to?

Did you try to replace it with the TP-Link?

If that’s the case your going to have the same issue with every router you get.
 
Is it possible to enable dynamic DNS on this router?
I can't find the option anywhere.....
 
I've got one of these but for whatever reason it doesn't like my work's VPN service, so I had to downgrade back to a trusty D-Link again. If anyone really wants the AX3 and has a router to trade, let me know.
