A number of router manufactures use the term "Virtual Server" for port forwarding. Not really sure why.

If you ignore the common port drop down list and just fill in the ports you want to forward in the LAN/WAN port box, you can forward anything. As a test I just forwarded 5080 to port 80 on an internal machine and it works.

I stand corrected, you are absolutely right!

Wonder if it's the same for the Telkom E960 - it must be!
 
Has anyone managed to get one of these units working without it losing its settings. Unfortunately we use these units in areas where you are not always secured a constant power supply and really not even Eskom can do that at the moment.

Please any help would be hugely appreciated. Willing to try the newest firmware release again if I could just find a link to it as it is not on the New Vodacom site.

There is a direct link in the first post, but as mentioned by myself and others SP4 does not fix the lost settings problem.
 
I wish they would at least enable an option to save a config file. At least you can just upload the config file back to the router if it gets lost.

If you're not that fussed about the upload speeds, you can get yourself two of Telkom's E960s?

But I'm sure there must be stock SOMEWHERE in the country.

B970 Remote Management Setup HELP

Hi all.

I am having trouble setting up remote management into my Vodafone B970 router.
(i.e: accessing my routers homepage and settings from another internet connection)

I have successfully enabled my Dynamic DNS Settings to a domain name which updates my IP each time I connect.

However on a foreign network putting in my domain name (http://mydomain.ddns.com) does not send me to my routers home page.

I apparently need to activate Remote Management (which makes sense) however what IP do I put under Remote IP Address: (This is supposed to be the net IP of the connection trying to access the router.) However, every network has a different IP,etc,etc.:confused:

So what IP can I place that will allow any PC with any IP to access the router. :confused:

PS: 192.168.1.1 & 0.0.0.0 & 255.255.255.255 Are invalid according to the router. :wtf:
 
The idea is that you manage it from a network with a fixed address. So you need to put in the gateway address of your firewall at the office (for instance). Also you do know that you need to apply for the unrestricted APN to allow unsolicited inbound connections to your router?

I have already applied for the unrestricted APN and am using it now.
 
i've never actually managed to do this either... haven't really tried... however it might be the port is set non-standard or something from the outside... try http://mydomain.ddns.com:80 or :8080 or whatever it's set to. Could also be your firewall preventing it, try it off. By the way, as you might know, the "Remote IP address" is usually a range you put in to ONLY connect from... in other words... 1 specific ip address. Does it work if you leave it empty? perhaps it can only be managed from 1 specific ip...???

Would also liek to know if it works
