Huawei B970/B970b HSPA Router

Yup, unfortunately a known bug.

Yes, a known bug. It was supposed to be fixed with a firmware upgrade, but even after the upgrade, the router would still reset the settings. No fix yet....

We recently had the same problem with a Netgear ADSL router (packet loss), but we had a few power failures at the office and unfortunately the Netgear was not connected to a surge protector or UPS. Dont think the Netgear routers like power spikes too much....well, I guess that goes for most electrical equipment. :)

Swopped the router with a new Netgear and 0 packet loss.

Well I guess he'll have to wait for a newer router to be released from Vodacom then, and he'll have to carry on using his older Linksys router for his internet.
 
Hi there

Anyone had a problem with a B970 Huawei Router and Windows 7 Professional. Here my Scenario:

Windows XP and router over nic, all good, youy can access the routing table menu, then you switch on windows 7 machine and 3 mins later routing table not found, router stays connected but you cannot access the routing table no more. I have tried a laptop with 7 too, and does the same.

Sounds pretty weird to me, but anyone seen that before?
 
I have been using Windows 7 with my B970 for about a year now without issues, do you have an more details on your problem?

i have tried different NIC's seeing that i thought a signature that weas maybe being sent was screwing it up.

But no difference, strange problem

I connect through my win 7 + XP laptops...no issues and I have the same router firmware as you. Probably device specific?

I still don't understand what your problem is. I don't know what you mean about the routing table (is it on the PC or the router?). Have you assigned a static IP to the Windows 7 machine?

We have also tried the router and all other devices with a 3G Poynting antenna as well, as we thought it might be a signal issue, but again the packet loss only happens on the B970 router and not on the other devices, with or without the Poynting antenna.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to look? Maybe a setting on the B970? As I am not sure what it could be?

I still don't know what to do about this? At the moment, he's using an old Linksys router with a Huawei E630 card, as the B970 is still dropping packets occasionally. Not sure what else to try....any suggestions?

A friend of mine was told at a Vodashop that Vodacom are no longer importing Huawei products.

I think they were just lying to get my friend to keep the K4505-Z modem they had just sold him, but maybe VD can confirm or deny?
