Huawei B970/B970b HSPA Router

have tested it on my pc and notebook. always same connection alerts.

Can Someone help me with this problem

Q1:
I'm using the CellC 21.6mbps SIM card on the Vodafone B970 router
I have no idea why it shows the speed: EDGE after I connect to the internet
Is there any way to make it HSDPA?Cause its really too slow.

Q2:
do i need to update the router? where? can anyone give me the website?
and how it works?

AFAIK the B970 does not support 900MHz UTMS. So it will not work properly with Cell C.
Have a look at supported routers:

If you want to use it on Cell C you need a B970b. Check the first post for specs.

I noticed that since v4me was finally killed the download link for the SP04 firmware upgrade no longer works. I have uploaded a copy to mediafire and updated the OP.

Has anyone had any success configuring the B970b as a gateway for a server 2008 PPTP/VPN server? Tested on ADSL it works perfectly but the 3G Router seems to block something somewhere? Any helpful input would be appreciated. :)

Got the same issue at the moment.

Port 1723 (PPTP VPN) is open, but it blocks the GRE protocol, that's why it won't connect at all.

I even put the PC hosting the PPTP server in the DMZ, but it doesn't make any difference.

Ok, I was a bit naughty tonight and slipped an 8.ta sim card into my B970 router. :)

Saw that it works and then slipped back the Vodacom sim (want to use up the data still on the sim).

*Can't for the life of me not remember if the firewall should be switched on, or do you keep it switched off and just use Windows Firewall?

Aaah, that's good to know. A friend of mine wants to get one of those 10GB R199 SIMs from 8ta. Glad to know he can use it with his Vodacom equipment. :)

my vodacom expired in march then used it as pre-paid
on the 26th june I got my 8ta sim placed it straight into my B970 and off I went with no problems

So basically its a 3G modem souped up with added connections. Not a router if your using a cell network its not using TCP/IP

Maybe you should stick to topics you understand. 3G clearly isn't one of them.

I'm looking to buy B970/B970B's but don't want to deal with Vodacom/MTN/Telkom etc. Which local distributors sell them, e.g. Mustek, Rectron, Frontosa etc?

Apparently Mustek sold them. We phoned them now and they said it has been discontinued and replace with the B660. Anyone with experience of this model? Does it have the usual bits we need such as port forwarding/virtual server, DDNS, external antenna?

I can't seem to find any local information about the Huawei B683 router? Was this ever released in this country? Is it still in the pipelines?

Huawei B683 router supports 28mbps HSUPA and is also a wireless N router.

I see it available from Netherlands.

Help with 8ta

Same here!

My 8.ta sim loves my Vodafone B970 router. :)

@kingrob, please could you assist me.

I bought the B970b from VC but I cannot get onto the internet with my 8ta sim?

The APN is greyed out in the router settings - it says vodafone.de

Your assistance will be highly appreciated!
