Huawei B970/B970b HSPA Router

@kingrob, please could you assist me.

I bought the B970b from VC but I cannot get onto the internet with my 8ta sim?

The APN is greyed out in the router settings - it says vodafone.de

Your assistance will be highly appreciated!

Power up the B970b and wait until the WLAN light is green.

Using WiFi, connect to the “gateway” network and with a browser go to http:// 192.168.1.1 or connect your PC to the B970b with a network cable, making sure your PC network is set up for the correct subnet to enable connection to 192.168.1.1 this is the B970b home page.

Log in with user & password “admin”
Go to “Advanced Setings” > “Dial-up Settings” > Profile Settings

I still could not edit the profile. You can only select the Vodafone Affiliate and the details would change.

I selected Vodafone Greece and it worked!!!!!

Tanks a mill JimM

Hi

I just bought the B970b 3G modem throug Vodacom. Anyone got any literature or tips on how I can set it up for online gaming please.

Everthing in terms of normal browsing works fine but cannot connect/login with Battlefield Bad Company 2 for example. Says Unable to log in within the game.

Tried turning off the Routers Firewall to no avail.

Any help in this regard would be great thanks.

John

Turned Firewall on and FTP doesn't work either.

Check the first post in this thread. It will help you set your APN and DynDNS.

When I have time I'll note the steps for port forwarding.

I suggest you go do some reading on the setup of your IP cams and what ports they operate on because you will need that when you need to setup port forwarding.

Hi Morkhans

I have a similar problem, I have setup a dvr with a cctv system which is connected to my MTN B970 router, I want to view the footage from a remote location but I am told I need to enable the dns functionalty on my router and change my apn with MTN to unrestricted. I have read the instructions at the begining of this thread and I am unable to do so. I followed the login instructions but I do not see a # to enter the script into. I would really appreciate some assistance.

Thanx

I am not aware that MTN have an unrestricted APN. Also the MTN version of the B970 does not support DynDNS. You may have to flash you MTN router with the Vodafone firmware (at own risk of course).

my problem not solved yet !!!

3G Gateway Update Software

Step 1: Obtain an updated software image file from your ISP.

Step 2: Enter the path to the image file location in the box below or click the "Browse" button to locate the image file.

Step 3: Click the "Update Software" button once to upload the new image file.

NOTE: The update process takes about 2 minutes to complete, and your Gateway will reboot.

i was wondering if any of you guys know how to back up the router's settings, every now and again when the b970 router has been unplugged from the power supply it looses the whole set up and resets to defaults... i know that's one bug to be fixed but if i can, how on earth can you back-up the routers settings? I've even loaded the the latest firmware.

I need help. I have a private APN via MTN, all works ok including remote management except Virtual Server. I want to access http applications on the remote network. My config is
WAN port: 8080
LAN port: 80
LAN IP: 192.168.1.100

firewall is enabled and nmap shows only WAN port 80 is open for remote management,

Regards

You have to create a profile for CellC.
Use *99# for the number to dial, internet for the APN.

Leave all other settings to their default.

Just a note of heartfelt thanks to you, morkhans, for this forum discussion.

I have a B970 that was constantly resetting during the last week.

My daughter took it to Vodacom today and was told that it would cost around R1,700 to repair.
She was also advised to rather purchase a new one.

I found this forum discussion via Google tonight, followed your instructions and the B970 is back to normal.

Thank you again for taking the trouble to put this online - I really appreciate it.:D

Take care, leon

b970b ,please help me

I have a Huawei B970 wifi router and the web interface keeps asking for the firmware for this as the the only way I can connect to this device is through a web page. This is what is displayed. I contacted my ISP Etisalat Egypt and they tell me they do not have updated software image file that would work through the web interface download, so I hope you can help me out so that I can reset back to factory default and then upgrade using ISP's executable update program from the laptop.
