The battery life of this thing still just gets me. It's not far from knock-off time at work but I am still at 81% battery, it's insane. With my Note8 I'd usually be at around 40-50% at this point.

The standard Mate 20 has impressed PhoneArena with its battery life, I guess the Mate 20 Pro shouldn't be far off these stats considering it's OLED display and 4200mAh battery.
We'll have to wait and see..
PhoneArena:
"The only device that even comes closer to it is the iPhone XR, which scored a respectable 11 hours of battery life, but still compared to the Mate 20 is way behind.
In real life, you can get two days of usage out of the Mate 20, while with most other phones this year, you can get 1 full day, but usually not more."
Huawei Mate 20 scores best battery life of any flagship in 2018

That's GSMArena, I was talking about PhoneArena. They already tested the Mate 20 Pro's Battery life, they were not impressed at all...... (think they tested it wrong lolol )
Scroll down... way down on this list... to 85h

That's GSMArena. It scored 85h with the FPS On and 91h with it Off. Still not a bad score, but yeah very different to what others are getting.
What I really like about GSMArena's method though is that it does give a great indication of different scenarios and how the device handles them in terms of Battery drain.
Indeed, very odd, but they do mention that it performed admirably in the individual tests, it's the Stand By that took its tall on the results.Yes not sure how they tested it cause it definitely has the best battery life of all flagships, apart from the Mate 20 but the 20 is not flagship
Huawei has reported that the first week of local sales for the Mate 20 Pro exceeded the first week sales figures of its Huawei Mate 10 series by 280%.
Additionally, the Mate 20 Pro’s first-week sales have been 73% higher than those of the Huawei P20’s first week.
“Our first batch of Huawei Mate 20 Pro phones is almost sold out in SA. Another 14,500 devices have been ordered and will be available soon,” said Huawei Consumer Business SA GM Likun Zhao.
Indeed. The 4G here at home is quite sporadic depending on room, to the point where we keep most phones in 3G mode, nobody wants to allow a network to put a mast closer to the area apparently.Hmm. On my mate 10 pro I only lose about 3% when I'm sleeping. That's pretty solid in my book. Maybe they sorted the issue out, or could depend on signal strength. There are a whole host of factors that could affect it
I think it will be compatible next year hey. They even given for free to new vitality members.Hi all
Does anyone want to buy my watch, I'd be happy to get R4k for it. I've just opened it to make sure it's working. I'm based in JHB.
Reason for selling: not compatible with Discovery Rewards App.
Did they take the device in? And are they going to sort it out now that you provided proof?Hi
I upgraded to the Mate 20 Pro twilight from Telkom on the day of launch there. problem is that 10 days later i got time to play with settings and changed the colorful screen wall paper to a dark theme and then i noticed the green spray of dots on left side.
by the end of day at night the entire screen was green on left and bottom right. i notified the Telkom persons details i had and went in next day and it was said sorry past 7 days no immediate replacement i have to follow the send in repair issue. To top this off i had to give prove that this was a issue which I'm glad for this forum and others as they said they don't believe me and even Huawei rep at said I'm the 1st no one else had reported this so that added to frustration but wanted to make sure i post here to help others seeking prove for their argument.
have to say though besides this issue the phone is really amazing and even choose it over note 9, however I'm sure Samsung has something up there sleeves to compete cant say much about apple as i haven't yet used it. Ill add pics should anyone want to see.
I observe the same on Y6 and non-Huawei phones. Don't be misleaded, these battery indicators are only estimate. It is just a meassurement of a battery voltage with a correction based on learned data. A minor firmware update can reset this data. You need at least two full charge/discharge charges to get accurate results.Cool guys, so I did the test, charged the phone up to 100% and then went to bed at 23:55
For anyone interested - Chatz Connect (Broadacres branch in Fourways) is advertising the Mate 20 Pro for R499 p/m on Vodacom - that is a good price indeed. Not sure if it is only available at this branch, or at all of their branches.

^ It does look like it could be limited to the Broadacres branch, if it is indeed correct, so other stores may not have or advertise it. As I say, one has nothing to lose to quickly phone the branch and find out. I upgraded my contract there a few weeks ago and was happy with the service I received. Also got a tempered glass screen protector for half price at one of their Centurion branches, so they often do good deals on phones and accessories.
