Huawei P6

I still prefer this over my razr and 1st note.
Phone feels great in hand, is the 4.4 kitkat stable? DJ did you flash this over your Vodacom one??
I also have voda firmware on atm. Need to flash keeps losing wifi connection.

Well I've discovered that this phone really doesn't like weak WiFi connections at all and disconnects frequently in my bedroom where my Samsung devices don't. Very frustrating. Oh and I'm using Emotion UI v2.3. Not entirely happy with this device so far. Its very sluggish one sec then okayish the next. Contemplating taking this thing back or flashing CM now...

Also had an issue with twrp recovery where it refused to clean the system partition. Had to reflash stock recovery, flash firmware again, factory reset, wipe all cache, restart, adb to boot loader, fastboot twrp, then restart just to flash gapps, as the system had insufficient system partition space the first time around. Very frustrated with this phone so far.

Apps also take forever to install after downloading...

Well im keen to try out [ROM][KK][P6-U06][ HYD52ROM V7], has good reviews from what ive read so far.

Wi-Fi is still schit on this device. Still getting frequent disconnects while right next to the router - can't get a solid speedtest out of this thing either, while speedtests from all other devices are perfect.

I will be swapping this for a replacement tomorrow. It's been an infuriating 24 hours with this piece of schit...

Your P6 most definitely sounds like a faulty device, did it originally come with firmware B107?

Nope. Came with B119 which I assume is a custom Vodacom firmware. Updated to B125 and now 4.4. The wireless network doesn't freeze now, but the wifi disconnects every few seconds and can't obtain an IP from my second router. There is clearly something wrong with this unit...

Interesting, mine came with the initial B107. I have no known issues, did temporary upgrades, but reverted due to possible OTA issues. I'm on MTN.

B119 resolved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues and is a European release. Either VC ****ed it up, or you have a device independently upgraded… due to issues... Throw it back at VC.

Best ask everyone owning a P6 in this thread with which version their phone came with, especially those who received their P6 in 2014?

Thanks man, but I'm not going to bother. This phone is sluggish, cannot maintain a Wi-Fi connection, and on older firmware freezes my entire Wi-Fi network to the point that no devices can use the network. Used 3 different official firmware versions now, so there is clearly an issue with the wireless chip in this device...

Mine from vodacom purchased month ago, it came with B119.

As for wifi mine is fine, it just randomly disconnects once a day. Wifi reception isn't that bad either Im still picking up my wifi in the garage outside flat.
Definitely faulty unit!!

No, I flashed from B119 to B125, then to KitKat...

Busy downloading this one now to test...

This ROM sorted out all of my issues. No more lag, no more WiFi issues, no more system issues. Looks like this ROM is a keeper...

You can get it here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630208

EDIT: nope. WiFi issues resurfaced once again. Seems this phone really is stuffed. Going to have to return it. On the plus side, the ROM is awesome. Very smooth...

Are you using TWRP for Kitkat? Also, did you do a full wipe, by wiping everything except internal and external storage? Though, it shouldn't really matter, because the rom is based on the stock rom.

Yes im on TWRP for kitkat!
Yep full wipe, still doesn't boot really strange. Maybe mounting issue, when I tried to flash gaps for kitkat also didn't work.

The problem with flashing gapps is that there's insufficient space in the system partition.

Try reverting to the stock recovery, then install KitKat beta using the 3-button method. Once that is done, before doing anything else, do a factory reset.
The factory reset will free up a whole lot of system space.

After all that is done, you can install twrp again. Also, I'd suggest downloading the rom again. Just in case the file got corrupted somehow.

Yup. I had to flash stock recovery once for it wipe the system partition. Oddly enough the second time I flashed I didn't need to. I erased everything except internal and external SD card and it worked. Also remember to do a factory reset after flashing the ROM, Gapps, and SuperSU. Sometimes helps with bootloops...

I posted my process for flashing earlier on, including a remedy for the Gapps system partition issue...

Just picked up a new P6. Aaaannnnd...same fscking problems from the outset. Freezing the wireless network. So flashed the latest KitKat which was the only firmware that resolved it. And it drops wireless the moment it moves out of full signal range. I'm 10 metres away from the router between one wall, and this thing can't connect. Or it does connect, then disconnects.

Fsck this piece of schit phone. Had enough now...
