My only wish with iWork is that Numbers could do as many calculations as Excel even though I don't need them and that you could do formulas in Pages like you can in Word. If iWork doesn't suit your needs then look at Open Office. Ver 3 has just been released and I installed it earlier this week. It can do everything that MS Office can so you should be sorted. Anything to stay away from Microsoft.

on another note... 24" iMac 2.4Gghz on 1GB RAM: just copied 2 files simultanously (a 60GB File and 10GB file), with 2 user accounts open, AND each with an instance of Parallels and XP open.. all at the same time. ground the whole system to a halt, BUT it didn't crash... just plodded along and finished all the tasks! Lets see Vista or XP do that!!!
 
That's what is so awesome about Mac. IT GETS THE JOB DONE! Doesn't necessarily run faster than Windows Xp or Vista but it sure hell is more stable!
 
I've never had a kernel panic on my Mac, Mail did crash one time but it was bouncing between two open networks.
 
Hi,

I need help, again! I had to install my HP officejet 4-in-1. Mac detected it fine. I inserted the driver disc for Mac, to add the extra functionalities, but about 90% through it bombed. I forced-quit. Tried to install again, but it jumps to the place it was, and just hangs. Can I uninstall and start from scratch? And how?

Maybe the HP software is outdated? you could check their site for compatibility.
 
Downloaded latest software, works a charm, huge improvement on old stuff! Thx Aqua for suggestion!

I don't think mail does that yet.

I did see an apple script that does that once when I was looking myself.

Never tried it.
I'm on local only now so can't check.

Nice to see you're not using that ugly "pc" :sick: word anymore. :)

To add read receipt to mac Mail use the following command
defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Disposition-Notification-To" = "Name <*******@gmail.com>"; }'
In terminal.

I copied the command,

defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Disposition-Notification-To" = "Name <*******@gmail.com>"; }'

and replaced the email address, but it doesnt seem to work?
 
Did you paste it into Terminal?
After your done restart the Mac.
AFAIK the read responce only works on MS Outlook.

Yip, pasted it into terminal, changing email address. Havent restarted, will do now. But I am using mac mail, not Outlook.

Will let you know:)

When you send a mail from Mac Mail to someone who has MS Outlook on a Windows PC and they get the promt to send a read reply it'll come to your inbox. When you send a mail in Mac Mail to someone who uses Gmail online for example they will not be prompted to send a read reply and you will therefore not receive one.
