Hey guys

I have a client that needs a Firewall to be installed for their company network. They were previously using iShield, which was installed on a dedicated Linux box, and was charged for on a monthly basis (i.e. a monthly subscription).

This has now become too expensive - and the client is cancelling the subscription. The want a firewall to be installed at a once-off cost.

Here are their requirements:
- Everything that iShield can do
- an HTTP proxy, for caching of HTTP traffic, to reduce bandwidth costs, and improve speeds for commonly accessed sites.
- advanced DHCP server
- internet bandwidth monitoring and allocation, to monitor bandwidth usage by users on the network,
- content filtering, to filter out facebook, porn sites, warez/crack sites, etc.
- the ability to block specific services for specific users (e.g. block Skype, or block Email, block P2P)
- VPN
- Load balancing and/or automatic failover for multiple internet connections (e.g, ADSL, iBurst, 3G)

Is there anybody on myBB who specialises in this sort of thing, and can provide me with quotes, and do the installation at my client's premises?

Hi Toxic

Look up Obsidian Systems on teh net (based in Randburg), they can suggest you something and can probably come and set it up for you too. I use them quite a bit and usually they're pretty sharp.

Have you considered taking a look at Untangle?

ClearOS

Have a look at ClearOS, 15mins install and you'll have pretty much all of that. Pretty easy to setup as well.

ClearOS for a free system, Untangle for a decent paid for service. Especially if you want to do per user bandwidth allocation.

Yip, although you can do quite a bit with just the 'free' parts too! Awesome system imo! ++

Thanks guys. Any other reliable companies out there who can do it?

I'm not looking for a free service. I'm looking for someone who knows what they are doing to come in and set it up, professionally, according to the clients needs, and be remunerated appropriately.

I don't want to spend hours or days stuffing around with free systems, and I not looking to make a quick buck. I need a pro.

I'll check out Obisdian in the meantime

Contact Christos here. Christos has been a long time ClearOS (formerly ClarkConnect) partner who has successfully deployed dozens of systems. His team is well-respected among our organization...I wouldn't recommend him if it wasn't the case.
