iBurst Compatible Hardware

Cool. I've got an iBurst Kyocera USB and really want to get a WiFi router that supports this on USB. Save me from having to buy the desktop modem w/ ethernet. Any word on the iBurst USB working with routerboard?

Hi there -

I just got a Billion 7402GXL WiFi 3G/USB router to use with my iBurst USB modem. I am able to connect the iBurst through PPPoE on the router, and in diagnostics it says "ping www.google.com test PASS", so I assume the router is talking to the internet just fine. However I can't get to any websites on my connected laptop (ethernet or WiFi); I try to ping www.google.com or any internet address and I'm getting nothing. I am getting a local IP from DHCP just fine as well, and can reach the router setup page with no issues. Any ideas why the router is not sharing the internet connection to machines connected via LAN?

Thanks

A

If you don't come right please speak to the guys from http://www.nology.co.za/ I'll ask them to send me a test unit again and I'll post the config.

No support for USB on the RB.
Has anyone from iBurst approached MikroTik about adding support? The RB411U looks like a perfect companion for the iBurst USB modem.

According to Mikrotik's supported hardware, they already support a Kyocera 3G modem and with the iBurst driver source code already available, it might be easy for them to do.

QUick question on the tests. I have iBurst and use a Mac and would prefer to use a router type solution without buying a new Desktop modem. My question is: On a Mac, the IBurst USB modem disconnects randomly. Will the same happen with the compatible router such as the Dovoda UMR or Billion?

I have a D-Link DSL-2640U Wirelss G ADSL 2+ Router. It has a WLAN LED but I when I tried to setup the Iburst modem to communicate with it, it didnt work. Just wondering if it is possible to use this router with Iburst?

Nope it doesn't have a WAN port, unless there is away to configure one of the LAN ports to be a WAN port.

Hi PLS HELP ME

If the Billion 7400 series supports iBurst USB 3Gmodem then surely another modem router with the same specs would also or am i just a moron?

I really dont want to spend R1700 to make a kkhotspot in my house for my other laptop to connect to the other laptop's internet connection through iBurst and no-one really knows what is going on with the iBurst 3G compatability :(

thank you for your help :)

Dear Obviously

A router runs an operating system just like your PC does. The operating system on the router requires drivers just like your desktop PC does so that it can communicate with USB devices.
If a router does not have the driver for an iBurst USB modem included in its operating system it will not be able to communicate with it.

The iBurst desktop modems have an Ethernet connection and therefore do not require any special drivers.

i am looking for a router that will work with the iburst usb modem.
please PM me with suggestions.thanks

USB router with usb iburst termiinal

Hi Guys

Whats the best Router to use that has a usb connectivity. So that i can connect the iburst terminal to the router and get internet access through the router.

The MR3420 has a USB connection, which works with my Cell C dongle/modem.

I'm not sure if it will work with your USB iBurst modem, but give them a call first and find out.

Tell them you're a myBB member and they will charge you R485, they're based in Bedfordview.

Compatible with UMTS/HSPA/EVDO USB modems,

Bought myself the TrendNET 150Mbps Mobile Wireless N Router TEW-655BR3G the other day.
Bought a IPAD 2, Wifi, so needed something compact to plug a 3G USB Modem into for 3G on the move. (There was no stock of the IPAD2 3G version)

And to my suprise got home and it also supports the Iburst USB modem. During configuration you can choose between Iburst or 3G. Perfect
