How does all this tie in with the new "excessive usage" policy?

And by looking at the hub's address (wbs.za.org) is this an official iBurst-owned hub?

No one knows as we haven't recieved a clear (and might I add public) answer from iBurst regarding what counts as excessive use HOWEVER if they have any logic within their craniums they should be delighted you choose to download off the hub as all the data is merely transferring between modems on their network and not across any other provider (meaning it costs them absolutely nothing).

As for it's naming....well, all I'll say is we have some very creative namers on the hub.

Error. I was getting into the hub fine until yesterday or so, now it gives me the following error :

SSL Error: error:00000005:lib(0):func(0):reason(5) (-1, 5)

Unfortunately due to iBurst's displeasure towards us actually utilizing it's service in a creative and bandwidth friendly manner (or at least me and others believe the hub to be so - considering it was all internetwork bandwidth) they have once again managed to cripple the dc++ system of downloading.

I wasn't officially informed by the hub administrators but it appears as if they found it pointless to host the hub when no one could truly benefit from it any more and as suchysuch the hub is now closed until further notice.

firstly, the hub went down rather abruptly and without notice, so soz about that.
Not that it matters to be honest. its been rendered pretty much useless, thanks to iBursts 'fixing of caplessness' a while back. which also messed up the traffic among iburst peers (hub..)

so unless someone asks, the hub will remain offline.

Sadly indeed.

I'm hopeful given enough time someone out there unfortunate enough to still be on an iburst connection (which includes me at this point) will figure out another way to more effectively "utilize" the system.

Until then.....we wait....and weep.....mostly weep.

Hi Guys, for all of you that were excited about this a few years ago, I am starting a DC hub soon. I have however learnt from the mistakes of others who have attempted to start a DC hub. Mistake number 1 is that a network like this is not something that can slowly grow. There needs to be a hype/excitement before the hub goes live so that when it does, we suddenly have thousands of users joining on day 1!! A facebook group is the perfect way to do this, because it will be easy to send everyone the hub address once the group reaches a thoudsand odd users. I have already created a group like this called "South Africa's first DC++ Hub - P2P Network". I hope you guys will support it. The hub goes live on the 27th of October 2008. Hope to see you guys on it.

There is a reason this topic(server) died - iburst network makes it neigh impossible to propagate p2p sharing. try researching before poking a dead horse with a carrot.
