Impressive Rain 5G performance after network changes

Ok, but why not use a DC step up ?

Well it's complicated then. You need a DC step up then how are you going to work around the power over ethernet situation to power the device and have ethernet. Using an inverter seems like a very easy solution.

Still getting below 100Mbps in Rooihuiskraal, using an ethernet cable, and according to the activation screen, excellent signal.
So, nothing really changed.

Did a test last week Friday and that tower pushed close to 700Mbps. How far are you from the tower?

Just over 500 m, but the router has a green signal strength on 5g, and the activation screen says I have excellent signal. I do not think I have a signal problem.

I'm not close to it at all took my router for a drive test. I saw guys at that tower but next to it it was peaking at 700Mbps and averaging at around 500Mbps. This was over wifi6 though so not that accurate.

That is entirely possible, but the problem they had was that the CPE they used in the article is an outdoor unit? (Correct me if I am wrong, meaning powering over Ethernet only.)
The ethernet port is a Gigabit interface, which means no passive PoE. Active only.

Nice change after the intervention. Suddenly now I get just about no interruption of the internet connection and as a rule the speed (30 Mbp down) I contracted. Let's hope it lasts.
Thanks Rain.

trying cancel my rain, and they have taken the option away, anyone have an idea on how to get hold of theses people. and i have logged a service request
I was on the verge so I found out. Log on to website and in the support area use the message function. Apparently just tell them you cancell and your address for if they must collect the router. Apparently that's all.

Also in Rooihuiskraal and no real change with download speeds but upload speed has improved from 9 Mbps to average 19 Mbps and connection stability has improved as well. Hope the tower this side gets fixed as well so we can achieve the mentioned download speeds.

Seems like it’s better now yes. But they need to get up to gear! Why no email communication with us? No apologies, no “we are working on it” , na da.

Does anybody know what the situation is with Rain in the Magaliessig/Fourways area north of Monte Casino. I tried Rain in February and March and it was terrible. Seriously rusty butter knife wrist slitting terrible. It performed worse than my Telkom 4G LTE. I cancelled and returned to Telkom.

I bought the Rain 4G unlimited option and put it in my router and it's similarly poor in my neighborhood. Does anybody have experience with well performing Rain 5G in Fourways?

Als in the same area. Again had issues from around 6pm. Speeds between 5 - 12mbs

Same here. Upload speed goes up to 25mbs. But the download speed varies between 5-12 mbs

You are very lucky at getting these speeds. I'm in The Reeds and I might get half of that on a good day with good - excellent 5G reception.
I must say that there was a spike in speed last week when they say they did some config changes, but that lasted a day. Then it was back to the 10mbs avg.
I have been involved with them from the beginning of Feb to try and sort this issue out. Now they are attempting to divert the focus on request 2-day performance reports that I need to compile them on a regular basis.
Yet they still have not given me even a one-liner of feedback from the "NETWORK" team as they like to point out every time I ask for an update.

RAIN's issues are still persisting. It's not all gone as they suggest. And the support still does not exist to the end users

I got my rain this weekend. In Pta

419 Mbps down
13.2 Mbps up
on speed.rain.co.za

On speedtest.net
392 Mbps down
19.95 Mbps up
18ms ping

Is mybroadband investigating or doing paid adverts for Rain? For every one good review I read there are 20 bad ones ranging from poor speed to non existent support.

Is there anybody who has satisfactory 5G in the Fourways area?
