Inbound Connections / Unrestricted APN (MTNVPN)

@redarrow: What do you want to do on the VPN APN?
I can access my office VPN using the normal 'internet' and 'myMTN' APNs.

Hey,

I was trying to play FlightGear online but I was not getting any packets back from the server... and the documentation seemed to say I needed to disable any firewalls...

But I just discovered I had to just do a few tweaks and now it works on the normal APN :)

So yea... I don't need vpn anymore.. :cool:

MTNVPN APN is only available to MTN contract sub's

It will not work for MYCHOICE Topup

If you not able to use it then call your service provider and they can load the MTNVPN APN for you

Unrestricted APN

Anybody know or in the know about when Mtn is gonna be creating one of these or if they even are we need a apn that has no port blocking :), cos certain other networks just dont know what reliability means,
 
Dont you have to be a contract customer in order to activate this , or can the pre paids now activate this too?
 
Anyone know of the MTN unrestricted apn?

I'm currently having problems listening to streaming audio on my phone.
I've called MTN 1555 (data help desk) too many times to count, yet no one seems to have a clue what is wrong (or what they are talking about).

I think my problem could be related to the fact that the apn does not allow incoming connections from outside the network.
I'm trying to play the stream in real player but it always times out after connecting (before any audio plays)

I've put a Vodacom sim card in the phone and using the VLiveStreamin APN, the audio starts playing almost immediately.

Anyone know of the MTN unrestricted apn? (apparently similar to mtnvpn)

Any other ideas?

anyone asking and posting such info on a public forum will kill such a gracefull glitch if it exists :P
 
Mtnvpn - Apn

Hi Guys

I need the APN for the MTN VPN, I know a few guys on here are currently using it. I can't find it now, and it's rather urgent :o
 
I'd pay if their linux support was up to scratch, which I wouldn't know atm.

Either way ... I'm stuck with Vodacom atm. But at least that I can switch to the internetvpn apn. Not sure how to do that with MTN though.
 
you just need to be provisioned on the MTNVPN APN, its free as mentioned in this post. PM me the number and I can provision this for you
 
Call MTN tech department on 0831555

The service you need is mtnvpn. This you need to specify at the APN field.

This service will give you a public ip address when you make a ppp connection, so now that you are public real player should work
 
I don't think the APN is Ozz001's problem. I listen to streaming audio, using the Real player, from the BBC Radio 4 'Listen Again' website (quality radio -- what a treat here in our SA broadcasting desert!) using the standard MTN APN, and I've never had a problem. Even though I only have EDGE, I connect first time virtually every time and in contrast to doing it through Voda, the programme almost never drops, and buffers beautifully all the way through.
 
NEED UNRESTRICTED APN please help?

Guys anyone know the unrestricted APN for MTN i hear it could improve my latency?
 
What do you mean by unrestricted APN, none of our public APNs have restrictions
