Inbound Connections / Unrestricted APN (Now Testing!)

Do you want/need an APN that allows connections initiated from outside the APN?

So who has connected to APN yet?.
I am provisioned but get incorrect apn error when trying to connect.

I got an email telling me I was provisioned and the APN was 'unrestricted', but I am unable to connect when I specify that APN.
 
Thats the apn they specified, think they add your cell number to apn access.
Emailed guy who went email, but think he will only be in on monday.
So i now i know its not only me ;)
 
Did you guys change your APN?? What to?? I've been using the regular "internet" APN and activate the remote management on my router which now works from the outside world (didn't work before I was provisioned)... :)
 
Before the provisioning, I was able to connect with an APN of unrestricted.

After the switchover I'm unable to connect with the unrestricted APN.

Also I've tried to access FTP port on my public IP - is unable to (checked with this : http://www.canyouseeme.org/ ) but is able to FTP in to localhost. No firewall is active. (Ubuntu)

APN at the moment is 'internet'.

Will check on Monday.

Still wondering who testers 1 and 2 is though :D

EDIT : Weird, just tried to FTP in to my public IP, and I can. (from my local PC) - but when trying from another PC I can't.

I still cannot connect using the 'unrestricted' APN, but if I connect using the 'internet' APN I am able to SSH in from another PC, so port 22 inbound seems open.
 
Assuming you're using the Huawei E1820 dongle and the CellC dashboard :

Open dashboard
Click on the 'Services' button
You'll see a big empty box, and an empty-drop down list below it.
Pull the list down, there will be only one code, Self-Service (USSD) in, which will be *147#
Click on Send
Choose option 4 by typing in 4 in the same pull down list, and clicking on Send.
You'll be provided with your MSISDN, PUK, SIM and other numbaaaaaaaaaaaas.

I'm unable to ping my Cell-C IP address from another PC, and high port numbers (>30000) seem to be blocked.
 
OK, I can see my Mac if I put the dongle in and connect straight via 3G - it's web server for example shows up on an http://ipnumber request. But, when I share via Ubuntu (which is my std operating procedure) nada. I think it has to do with Firestarter's configuring of the firewall. I have:

CellC -> Ubuntu <- Wireless Network <- Mac, others

accessing the public IP from the private network shows the Ubuntu web page ("It Works").
accessing the public IP outside eventually times out. BUT this is just on Ubuntu - mac connection works.

Damn, I hate these linux iptables...
 
Cell C - Opening NAT for Xbox Live

Guys please bear with me, this topic, or as I refer to it "issue", most probably has been brought up before.

I have had endless issues with Cell C since November last year, finally I am getting good service from the network and from Cell C which is still on going.

Now that the network has usable speeds (http://speedtest.net/result/1340127646.png).
My question to anybody that can give me a straight answer, is when will I be able to open my NAT for Xbox Live.

Good Day disiza

NAT will not be possible at this time, as we do not have a open APN.
We are looking in to it, and are testing.
But we have other pressing matters at hand.
We will have an open APN just can't say when.

Thanks for the feed back gents, applied for testing lets see,food for thought:- the restricted APN issue should have been looked into before the network went live or was cell c under the impression that their network was only going to be used for email and internet surfing?

I have just tested today and it appears that port 80 is open on the standard internet apn. Can access the remote management page on my 3g router which runs on port 80. Have done some quick tests on other common ports but they do not appear open?
