Pretty close to the 1050 it does have less raster units, but it's a temp card, either way still have the trusty 570GTX, while it definitely older tech if the RX460 performance is really dismal I could always revert back to the 570GTX, the issue is it has been baked before works for a couple of months and have to bake it again.

I am not sure whether or not the 6870 is completely fried but have that as well, definitely not willing to test that on the new board, will do that when I get the replacement board for the 2500K rig, hopefully that is still fine ;)

I have a R7 260X and it still handles the latest games at 1080p with settings on high-medium. The only time the card will lag is if a game is badly coded.

I have 22inch screen so resolution scaling will not be an issue, besides I have only two games where I needed to decrease settings, was the witcher 3 and fallout 4 and both still looked great, smaller screen like mine make less of an impact, I barely game these days anyway, but I research games and play a bit, if I am looking at a specific theme or style when I do 3D modeling, which why I have amassed a pretty large steam, gog, origin library, mostly for research purposes.

There isn't a single game on my account that is going give issues, maybe thief and skyrim, fallout 4 should run pretty smoothly now.Will probably have to turn down AA and AF ambient occlusion in some games, as they are resource and bandwidth hogs.

I gave the 570GTX a proper don't give a damn if it breaks now bake so hopefully it doesn't cause issue with solder joint again.Was actually surprised it's still working after that :P

Just need to check that Hyper 212 evo fits the 1150 socket and get new 120mm fans.
 
Holy hell almost had a nervous breakdown, windows 7 and old Pentium dual cores with 1gig ram simply don't work well together, wanted to slit my wrists, have since installed XP, much much more chilled now....will have to do till the new goodies arrived.Worse was the schlep of getting things to work with XP. EVGA doesn't work with XP, so had to go hunting for afterburner, basically had to go download every piece of add on software for 32 bit windows.

It's at least miles better and snappy again.Next week can't come fast enough, if I am that lucky, stupid couriers only deliver twice a week here, so maybe only the following week.
 
Holy shyte takealot is useless, ships in 4 working days has turned into 8 days plus taking into account delivery time it self to out here, I won't be working till at least the 11th of April so basically close to 3 weeks.I have ordered the replacement board for the old system and will be here on Friday already.That said if the CPU is still working on that board.

What ticks me off is that takealot use to ship what they have in stock and ship what else they still waiting for especially if delayed as well, apparently their policy has changed since the merger they they wait even if that means 2 weeks for all stock to arrive plus it gets aggravated with deliveries taking place here only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Shipping on the 4rd, a Tuesday will not make it for a Thursday deliver that week, which means it falls to the next Tuesday the 11th.So basically their shyte service has a knock on effect on the delivery.

If you want what's in stock to ship you need to order separately. If order together, it gets delivered together.

It never use to be like that, retarded business practice now even back in the day sybaritic if there was any worthwhile delay they would ship what they had in stock and ship the delayed item afterwards. Greame would email you and ask if okay to ship separately
 
So what we have learnt here is that TaL is *** and shouldn't be used?

Well either way managed to get them to split the order, shipping out tomorrow, Tuesday arrival, Which I can live with, I can work at least....that is all that matter at this point I have a release date for content that needs to be pushed back by two weeks, just to catch up means I have to pull 14 hours work days including weekends to catch up.


Stupid me for not having a backup PC, will have one now, just needs to get another case and power supply.

PS: Takealot and their MrD delivery service sucks. Back in the day they would send stuff via air freight.

Keep it as a back up ;) I need to test and confirm the 6870HD is gone, then I will likely decide from there.I arranged a case and 2gb ram, for the backup system, just need to go fetch the replacement board for the old system, then in the cupboard for a rainy day.
 
So the 6870 is toast, so will be keeping the 570GTX as a backup ;)

Pretty chuffed with the system so far, just need to replace the CPU cooler with the coolermaster hyper 212 evo I have, just waiting on thermal paste to arrive this week.The other bad news is I needed to install windows again the old installation was over 4 years old, so got pretty bloated and such, managed to move my firefox profile over so that is at least sorted.

Now for the big push installing all the little apps that I use, drivers, updates ect blegh
