Some sites load, others time out. :wtf:

And when I call 0800-375375 they want me to enter a cellphone number to which they can report my fault ... after I already had to type in my landline number TWICE!!! ... huh? Unfortunately I don't even have a cellphone, so they just say "Please try again during office hours. Goodbye."

I mean WTF???

We had problems at the office all afternoon, now at home as well from midnight.
My OpenWeb and Afrihost are not working, but WebAfrica is working.

Heard on the radio this afternoon that sun spots are causing massive communication outages???

It seems if you connect to things via IP it works, as if DNS is down or something. I can still go on steam and xfire fine. Google also works. On telkom btw.

OK, I take that back, WebAfrica is also giving problems.
Must be a general fault.
Own up... who was it?

yep google sure does and seems like all other websites are up again

Some are up / down for me. Intermittent as well. Few, I came here hoping to see someone was having a similar problem (and not just me).

On Axxess / IS.

Seems like someone unplugged the routers power to charge their cellphone again... tsk tsk

Same issue here. Were playing Mortal Online the whole evening. Next moment Mumble dies. Now i cannot access most sites.

If it's a DNS issue, and I switch to an alternative DNS provider (like OpenDNS or Google Public DNS), would the problem be resolved? Thinking of a potential workaround for now.

I got the half loaded front page of yahoo.com And it reads "Kristen Stewart's provocative photos" ooh *click..click* Damn you Internet! :-)

Also had issues on my Afrihost account. Restarted the router to no avail (in fact it made things worse because my DNS cache flushed and I couldn't get to the Afrihost site - which was the only site I could get working before the restart).

On my MWEB account now and that seems to be working.

My axxess accoun t is totally dead, can't ping, everything timesout. But telkom account seems fine.

Forgot to mention I'm on Afrihost as well. However I guess the prob lies with Telkom, not any ISP.
Sun spots? Sure, in the middle of the night :)

Both Afrihost and Openweb are completely dead for me, locally and internationally. My net stopped working at exactly 00:00, which leads me to believe they have put something offline while they make fixes to what ever problem they had earlier today.

The only ISP that works for me atm is my trusty Telkom account.

Guess we'll have to wait till the morning to see if things get fixed. Going to rock the Android Tether (on MTN) for now.
