Proof please. My
Google search turned up the exact opposite.
I didnt see any meaningful statistics in your google search. Just anecdotes. Of course I didn't dig deep into the search.
Geeks talking about how to migrate. That in itself means nothing.
I am not going to spend too long looking for statistics but I do have a reasonable memory.
When it comes to Smartphones I remember a stat (was a year ago granted) that 81% of iOS users stayed in the ecosystem
Next was Android. But a greater percentage churned to iOS than iOS churned to Android.
And BB and M/S were poor
I looked for those stats and I didn't find the better article I read
I did find this one
http://bgr.com/2012/08/23/iphone-android-user-loyalty-survey/
Now I don't know how reliable the stats are. The stats I had previously were from a far more well known news service (but they are older. The 2 did more or less match though)
Android to iPhone Churn
17% of Android users plan to churn to iPhone at upgrade time
48% plan to stick with Android
Rest undecided
iPhone to Android Churn
77% plan to stick with iPhone
5% plan to switch to Android
Rest undecided
I don''t plan to spend time searching for Tablet stats except to say that iPad have been pretty dominant in the tablet space. This is reflected both is sales and in bandwidth consumption.
They do have a weakness and that is the lack of a tablet at a lower price point.
They don't do cheap. They maintain their margins
Will $329 be low enough? I dont know.
I was hoping for $299.
Many of the posts are emotive. 'They' wouldnt buy Apple therefore 'they' are right therefore Apple bad. 'They' are always irrelevant.
The stats that matter are Sales and Profit.
Of course if a company cuts margins to nothing they will sell.
Whether they will be used uis another story
Apple and Samsung are both very respectable behemoths. Samsung is a premium product and not cheap in itself.
Apple and Samsung share the mobile profit right now with very little left over for the others.
Amazon are a different argument because they sell the content and don't care about the device revenue.
The argument that praising Apple's profit (Samsungs is also good) is proof that people like getting gouged is flawed.
All companies want to make profit and very few are. They are not failing to make a profit because they feel charitable to their customers. They are failing because their products cannot command the price point.
If they don't make decent profit they are going to struggle to maintain product life cycles.
A typical trait of non-profit phones and tablets is that the manufacturers leave them high and dry with Software Updates.
