Dutchieland will get them before Feb, surely?

Stock. Everything with a chip is always out of stock.

My friend, I mis told you: "record inflation"

Can you pre-order here in SA?

The iPhone 14 goes on sale in SA on the 23rd of September.

I waited 4 months for stock for the 12 Pro Max, then managed to get my hands on the 13 Pro Max in October last year - a few weeks after release... No hoping to get the 14 Pro Max in early October too.

Don't think the supply chain constraints will hit here as hard as they did two years ago... well hopefully.

Every year people bitch about the pricing discrepancy caused by the Yankees not including sales tax.
Yeah, & after chatting with some Muricans while I was there they also don’t like the price you see is not the price you pay.

It’s such as daft approach.

Also different states have different prices depending on local sale tax. It's a VERY different market.

It's the same as console releases like the PS5. Everyone compares prices to the USA, but we get the EMEA region consoles, and our pricing structure is based on the UK/EU pricing... often our pricing being on par (if not cheaper) than some UK pricing.

Hard to do because there's not a single tax. Different states have different rates, and different cities in those states also have different rates. Fortunately we're smart enough to work it out ;)

Well, most of us.

Bad luck, people seem to be ignoring inflation as well. You didn't order one today?
Nope. If I do it will be later when the rush and hype is over. TBH I might wait for the next iteration.

Who knows.

EDIT: also not sure if I want to try out the max. Dunno if I could live with that size. Will go play with one in an istore somewhere.

It's the weight of the Max that I find more annoying than the size. The size is manageable, but the phone is heavy!

Holding a stainless-steel heft above your head in bed isn't fun when it falls on your face. :X3:

*Apple Store

Yeah, Leidseplein. You walk past it...often. Busy are that. You'll remember a couple of months ago there was a guy who took a hostage at that store - police stopped him by driving over him :D

EDIT: when the iPhone 14 Pro comes on sale in the Netherlands

Samsung can’t stop talking about the iPhone 14, and it’s getting a little creepy

Even before the iPhone 14 was announced on Wednesday, Samsung was already mocking Apple for the lack of “innovation” in the new iPhone models. Now that the iPhone 14 has finally been revealed to the world, the South Korean company is back with a new marketing campaign making fun of Apple for not offering features that Samsung smartphones already have.

Samsung makes jokes with iPhone 14

In a series of tweets, Samsung shared its “reactions” to “new devices announced on Wednesday.” While the company makes no mention of Apple, it’s pretty clear that the new campaign is aimed at iPhone 14 and iPhone users.

Two of the tweets are related to foldable phones, which Samsung has been offering for a while now. With messages like “What the flip, Apple?” and “What’s the hold on the Fold, Apple?” Samsung makes fun of having introduced its first foldable phone more than two years ago, while Apple still doesn’t have one.

Another joke made by Samsung is related to the camera. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature a new 48MP wide lens, which marks the first megapixel upgrade in iPhone since the iPhone 6s camera in 2015. However, Samsung says “48 megapixels? You’re almost there, Apple” as the company introduced a 108-megapixel sensor with the Galaxy S20 Ultra in 2020.

But the campaign doesn’t stop there. As noted by some people, Samsung has even put up billboards with similar jokes. One of them says that Galaxy devices have been able to record video in 8K for over two years, while even iPhone 14 Pro is still limited to 4K video.

While some people seem to enjoy the jokes, others don’t see how they can convince someone to switch from iPhone to a Samsung smartphone.
