My order was processed for the 15 Pro Max 256gb yesterday and the iStore and they’ve apparently shipped it, but there’s still no tracking info or number, even if I use Inspect to check. So they’ve gotten new stock this week it seems.

Definitely not caused by always on display. Most likely just a bad batch of screens that passed QC.
15 Pro and Pro Max users should check their screens. The issue won’t be visible to the naked eye or during normal use. Check your screen at different brightness levels in a dark room with a solid grey image filling the screen. Image for test

LATEST EDIT (Oct 22, 2023): upgrading to iOS 17.1 RC 1 or later mostly removes this issue. (some slight blooming/uniformity issues in very, very specific or hyper-critical viewing that is not noticeable in normal use. Unlike the original issue...) If you have this issue, upgrade to the 17.1 Beta...forums.macrumors.com
