From the outset the writer dimisses the Omnia and HTC Touch phones based on the sole fact that they run windows mobile.

Exactly - if it runs any MS product it is rubbish....big up to the writer and nice to know there are still people out there with their priorities in the right order:

1) Anything else but MS
2) Anything else but MS
3) Anything else but MS
....
