iPhone 5 SA stock shortages being resolved

Waiting on stock from Cell C at the moment, sales rep emailed me yesterday his correspondence.. apparently they were meant to get 600 last week but he's had no response

I'm not surprised by MTN's response, they never have stock of iPhone. My wife wanted a iPhone 5 ever since the SA launch on the 14 Dec 2012, we called various MTN stores in Gauteng DAILY! They NEVER had stock. My wife's had MTN Contracts for over 17 years. Last week though, she got her white 16Gb iPhone 5... from Cell C. Bye bye MTN, both my wife and I have cancelled our contracts with MTN, we're both on Cell C now. In my opinion MTN's staff have VERY VERY poor customer care.

MTN will never admit it in public but their focus is shifting away from consumers (individual contracts) towards business. They are restructuring/merging/etc to focus on business and not the individual. Expect things to go downhill henceforth as far as the individual is concerned.

The guy I dealt with at MTN was very helpful and straight out told me that cell c's iPhone5 deal was unbeatable. I tried going through mtn direct but got some lame excuse like they had the phones but couldn't deliver them due to there not being nano sims. The branch told me they had hundreds of nano sims but no phones. This was on the friday the phone launched, ended up going to the tiny cell-c shop in town who had stock of the iPhone5 and the best deal.

Why would I buy the Iphone5 over for example Galaxy S3 or HTC One X+ ? Anyone with valid reasons?

Is this your first day here? Do a forum search for any thread with iphone or apple in the title...

This is like asking why I should buy a BMW over a Mercedes or Audi. Normally you take them all for a test drive and the one you like the most is the one you buy. All these phones have similar capabilities but everyones taste differs. We can't give you reasons which one you want.

Because you want to be cool and trendy and you're brainwashed by the Jobssheeponites presumably?

Where do you get this info? Not sure this is correct at all!

iPhone 5's 16 gig are in high demand at Cell C, possibly because of their Straight up 200 killer deal. It is by far the best value deal. At Menlyn Cell C their waiting list was at 120 when I enquired 2 days ago. I expect that they will also receive stocks shortly. I grabbed myself a 16 gig iPhone from Cell C. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their data network too. So much better than MTN's big Edge network.

Please state your sources. I am not a MTN fan but this is a sweeping statement to make.

I basically get full 3G anywhere in town, my MTN contract used to only get edge and if it did manage to find 3G it was pretty slow... big fan of cellc at the moment.

Not so concerned about the iPhone 5 not being in stock... where the hell are all the iPad Mini 16GB wifi models???

I think you are seeing one action and assuming another action is the natural consequence

Vodacom's relative corporate success has always been a bit of a sore point for MTN.
MTN did restructure and they are trying harder in the Enterprise space. This part is no secret.

However because they are trying harder with Companies it doesnt automatically follow that they care less about Consumers.
MTN have done very well in the Consumer space. They aint going to want to lose market there.\
