iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus announced

Nobody else at the time was using the materials or design concepts that the iPhone 5 used. It's not a stretch at all to say that HTC took some liberal inspiration from it. The iPhone 6's roundness is also very similar to the iPod Touch 5th generation. I really don't think this is a case of Apple ripping off HTC.

The HTC Sensation would disagree with you on the materials front. As would the Sony Ericsson C902 from a design standpoint. But ja, Apple ripping off HTC was a bit much.

I'm also not totally sold on the design of the 6. The plastic edging is cheap looking. The one factor that mitigates the camera jutting so awkwardly out is that it will disappear with a case. And I think it's understandable since you really can't substitute digitally for depth in a camera lens. A 6+ with a Watch would be a great combination for me but it's so bloody pricey :/

And bloody huge- it's bigger than the Note 4, with a smaller screen to boot. Also, I am disappointed that Apple have sort of ceded that good design is trumped by the desire of owners to wrap it up in a case, so they can get away with the tacky looking camera ring.

It's 1.4mm thinner than the Note4 though which will even out the hand-feel quite well I think. Not sure about weight but it's about as heavy as the 5s from reports, so I don't imagine it'll be any more awkward to hold than other phablet-sized devices.

I don't think they've ceded anything about design though, except perhaps that design is ultimatley subservient to image quality - how else were they to keep shrinking camera lenses without compromising image quality? If they'd lumped out the metal around it, it would also have been ugly. It's more or less an acceptable, if unfortunate, compromise:

I agree about the top and bottom bezels being too large, especially on the 6+, but sadly the fingerprint sensor/home button will limit how small they can make the bottom one. Hopefully in time they can incorporate the scanner into the screen somehow.

I doubt it will ever happen. The bottom home button is also a big branding area for iPhones. It's the top bezel that puzzles me though. Then again, I guess phone height is actually less of a factor than width and thickness. I hardly ever reach to the top of my G2 and my hands spend probably 80% of the time skimming the bottom except for the notification bar.

:D I have a gesture that I can pull down the notification bar without reaching for it. Only works on my home screen though, but its better than reaching all the time, right? .... right? :D

That's a good idea....

/heads off to Nova :D

I wonder when they'll buckle and do widgets ?

Also have a swipe up gesture for the app drawer. And a double tap for screen lock :)
That knock on feature is the best invention to come out from LG. I can't live without it and now I've developed this habit of tapping all touch screens.

Elaborate.
LGs knock on feature. You tap your screen twice(or in a setup pattern) when in sleep mode for it to wake up(and unlock if it's a pattern). Same if you want to put it to sleep.

Was reading an article on Anandtech a few weeks ago and Anand praised the knock on feature and even said the buttons on the back of the G3 were so much more comfortable. I thought his comments were quite interesting as he's very thorough...
