Hi all,

My iPhone 6 16gig is having issues...again!

First it was the charging port that wasn't working...which I took to MTN and they said it was a software issue, which they fixed.

NOW, my phone's touch screen stops working. I lock it and unlock it, then it works sometimes, other times, not.

I've tried the Hard Reset (Hold Home and Lock buttons until Apple icon comes up), doesn't make a difference.

I haven't dropped it in any water or had water splash on it.

It does have a screen protector on it.

Has anybody else had this issue before? If so, what was your solution?

Thanx

You could restore the phone to the latest version of iOS, via iTunes (backup your stuff first). If that doesn't fix it then it could be a hardware issue and you'll have to take it in.

Going to try that tonight. Hoping it works. Always read iPhones are the best with minimal issues...I've got that few % that are the opposite.

My 6 plus did it once a twice. Without a screen protector (that's why it isn't with me anymore). If I remember correctly, I read somewhere it might be a software thing.

Yeah apparently most things are software related.

I also saw a recommendation to set up your iPhone as new after the firmware restore, rather than restoring your backup data from iTunes or iCloud as users have seen that restoring the data from iCloud or iTunes brought the problem back again.

When I had the charging issue, it was set up as new and was fine for a while, then this screen issue started up again.

Dropped it at all? Could be the digitizer or digitizer ribbon cable that's dodgy.

Hi,
As someone who works on iphones everyday i will tell you that this is a screen issue,if they opened the phone at MTN which they most likely did they might have damaged one of the connecting flex cables on the screen. Charging port issue fixed by software?? I fail to believe that.If not then its just gone faulty.
I have see 3 iphones with same issue, and only a screen replacement fixed the issue. If its still under warranty take it back because its only going to get worse. If no more warranty drop me a PM,maybe i can assist you.

I did a software restore and restored the back up and still have the issue but not as much.

Going to try a restore again and not restore the back up, basically start fresh and if it continues, I'll take it in. It's less than 1 year old.

Seems a hardware issue is likely, but try rule out a software problem with the fresh start. Let us know what happens.

I suppose I should have explained the charging port problem a bit better...

The phone didn't want to charge, I thought it was the port.

I have read that with the Apple phones that the charging doesn't simply charge cos it's connected to the port, but rather goes through software first. If that makes sense. So that's what made me accept the charging problem was software related. Hence going to try rule that out for this particular problem.

But anyway, gonna try what I said and let you know.

Thanx all

Any software related issue should be repairable in house though.

So download and install the latest IPSW for your model of phone.

Okay so it works sometimes? Just slow or what?

Then it's not the digitizer ribbon cable at least.

Or unlikely to be unless it's pinched in such a way that it connects and disconnects randomly, but very unlikely.
